It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.
If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.
In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.
Let's see how we can help each other improve.
[ooc: Please feel free to thread-hop/jack here, that's what this is for!]

I'm a decent pilot too, if there's ever any call for one.
[ """decent""" ]
slides here casually
[ sorry Shiro, in the world of One Piece, where cyborgs, lasers, sky islands and giant sea monsters are completely normal... there are no planes, and thus no pilots. ]
no subject
[ oh no, that's a poor choice in words. ]
I can handle space crafts, among other things.
no subject
Like a flying ship? Or a large bird...?
[ she's trying to imagine how this space craft would look like, and coming up with varied results. ]
no subject
Did you have anything like that where you came from?
no subject
Not ships that fly, no... just ships that sail.

I know it won't be useful here, but there's going to be more missions in the future. One of them might require it.

[He's only half kidding.]

[ looks at pidge........ ]
It's not all that far-fetched.

Maybe a rocket horse'll scare a Deemer or two out of wherever they're hiding. That'd be convenient.
no subject
Table that idea. We might need to resort to that if things get really bad. But I'm hoping we resolve this mission before we have to resort to potentially unstable rocket horses.

[It's not exactly productive that they're all getting into each others' business... and almost dying... instead of deeply looking into anything going on here.]
Back to piloting, though: I know a little bit myself, but I'm a little out of practice. [aka he's literally only helped fly.... one plane.] Might be nice to have someone show me the ropes.

un: skywalker.

You?
[ but unofficially he's flying a giant lion, so. ]
no subject
Both. Among others.

And you're way better than decent.
no subject
Sparring is more relevant now anyway. I'm not sure we'll ever need pilots.
no subject
I'd like if they could have some pilots. Even carting people around from one destination to another would be better than not doing it at all. I went long enough without having the chance, and now I'm afraid of not really getting to do it again.
no subject
[ One way or another. ]
But I understand. We can hope they need pilots in the future, but after we finish this mission we could see if there's a simulation available in the Castle.

[He hopes. He really hopes.]

[ because shiro is as low-key invested as keith is in this venture. ]
