[Somehow, adblock doesn't work when you expect it to:]

graphic design is my passion )

So, I'm thinkin' maybe not long after we get to Oska. Depends on when our next mission is, but I'm considerin' maybe a week out.

Just enough time to get back on our feet, anyway.

Payment can be discussed, if you're above the stated age and feel like attendin'. I can be persuaded.

[ it's been a long and grueling week of hard work, naive hope, and a desperate need for distraction — but finally, finally, olivia has some good news to share. ]

Good... Hello, all. [ she'd forgotten to check what time it was before beginning this. oops. ] Sorry to bother, but I thought some of you might like to know —

It's possible.

[ exhaustion hangs heavy on her every word, and it is perhaps the true reason she has not opted to do a video this time. but she does not want to worry the rest over something inconsequential, in the long run, because energy can always be regained later. innocent lives, on the other hand, cannot. ]

There is a way to save them, the Deemers. I-It's a very... slim chance. [ she's careful to say this from the get-go, mindful of urahara's own gentle but firm reminders as she worked tirelessly these past few days. ] And it won't... bring them back to what they'd been before this... They actually won't remember anything at all. [ a faint pause, after her voice turns a little low, regretful. perhaps if she'd tried harder— ]

But! [ no no, let's focus on the good here. on that hope. ] It is possible to heal the damage to their minds. We managed to save someone.

[ of the few urahara had managed to keep alive after the extraction, only one among them responded to her fervent healing. ]

He's... doing well. Adjusting. [ despite it all, a part of her wonders if it had been the right thing to do. if his struggles from hereon in would make it all for naught... ]

Um. If you were gifted with the highest level of ALASTAIR's healing magic, or have any advanced healing of your own to spare, and you'd like to help... please contact me. It's... not easy. But it's manageable. [ for it is quite taxing for just one to take on all their own, as haise has been quick to remind her, but she's even more hesitant to lump that burden on someone else. ]

And if you've managed to extract a Taraxa successfully, or you have a Deemer with you... please let us know, too. Thank you.

( ooc; TLDR olivia's max healing alastair abilities makes it possible to save a deemer, post-extraction. she was able to attempt this on some deemers urahara procured his collection of taraxa from. however, it has a very low success rate, on top of the already very low success rate of an extraction, and it leaves the deemer with essentially a blank slate. but!! still!! something???! gently whispers i'm so sorry for only realizing this could be a thing now )

[ the video opens on the white masked face and large pink eyes of one spider-woman ( secretly gwendolyn stacy. ) nothing else about the video seems odd…except perhaps for the way her pink-and-blue web-lined hood hangs around her head almost as if she were actually upside down ( she is. )

nothing else is weird. at all.
]

Greetings, Audentes. For those who don't know me, I'm your resident Spider-Woman. That's first name "Spider," last name "Woman," middle initial "hyphen." With that out of the way, I interrupt your daily routine to bring you this.

[ gwen flips her hand, seemingly pulling a scratched piece of holodisc out of midair. ( yes, she practiced that move. ) it vanishes from view as she holds it near the magitek. but the garbled audio is captured without problem. ]

--the core. Instability will result in-- --for this reason, we have--

[ gwen waits a few seconds so the message stands alone before proceeding. ]

Now, I don't know about you, but to me that sounds like the opposite of good. And considering all the holes and earthquakes and the earth generally being like nah to being stepped on around here, I'm guessing this planet thinks the same thing.

I also know my friend and I weren't the only ones who ran out to find more of these. [ the exaggerated friendliness with which she usually speaks tapers off into something more solemn. even the eyes of the mask narrow slightly. because masks do this. ] This planet was abandoned a thousand years ago for a reason. It's looking like we're going to discover that reason on our own. I prefer to do my research first so if anyone's found more of these messages, time to share with the class.

It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

Hi, guys! Okay, so, I got a present the other day, and it gave me an idea — a really good one, if I do say so myself — and I think— okay, I need to sort of introduce you to it a little bit first, just hang tight. How many of you have heard ooof... tabletop?

[ He holds up a big rule book; STRAP IN, FOLKS, IT'S ABOUT TO GET CRUNK IN HERE. ]

It's called 'Bunkers and Badasses' and it's a cool game for cool people, don't let anybody tell you otherwise. You pick the class you want to play in the party and their ability scores, and you go on an adventure and fight monsters and roll dice to see how successful you are! And, you know, I was thinking, it's not like there's a lot of fun stuff to do around here, and we're probably going to be here a while, sooo... anyone up for an exciting game of B&B? It has to be a small group so not everyone can play, but maybe if it goes well we can do it again sometime?

So, uh, let me know if you're interested, and. I... really hope someone is interested.

[ on-screen: ( 1 ) gwen stacy, a completely normal college student, wide-eyed, frowning. this is serious. a tragedy in motion. ]

I know we're all busy what with smashing bugs, do they even still count as bugs when you can spike them like a football? [ gwen stacy, asking the tough questions, ] but I have an emergency. See this? [ she holds up a cell phone in front of her face. the background reads "THE MARY JANES." the eagle-eyed will note the battery symbol in the corner: warning red. ]

This is my life. Not only is it my life, it's sitting at less than 10% charge so if I don’t get a charger for it pronto, I will literally die.

[ """""""literally.""""""" ]

Somebody has to have one. Help me, Samsung-Juan, whoever you are. You're my only hope.

[ other people have questions starting with "how" and "why" and "what the actual f—" gwen stacy, however, has #priorities. ]
