It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

I suppose I could help teach in swordsmanship. How many people here do you think would wish to learn it?

[ Given the guns and all. Swords are kinda old fashioned, but Arima's skilled enough that it really doesn't matter to him?! He's also got the super human strength going on but he doesn't mention that quite yet. ]

Perhaps...learning to cook would be wise as well.

Some time back, I remember someone questioning why so many people wielded swords, so I think there's a good number among our ranks.

[And let's be real here, Arima's the go-to for putting down enemies that full teams can't tackle, so he's certainly got skill and experience in spades.

But it's the second comment that really grabs his attention]

I see. I would like to get a proper weapon eventually as well. [ A broken quinque in a place like this isn't very useful after all, even if he has been making good use of it regardless. ]

It's a useful skill to have in case of emergencies.

It's in need of repairs at the moment. [ And it's likely not going to get fixed anytime soon, what with the component being Yoshimura of all people. ]

I've been making due with it as is, but I will need to get a proper weapon eventually.

Whenever you feel is best. There's not much preventing our schedules of meeting with each other anymore.

[ Usually they were both so busy with their own investigations that it was hard to even find the time to return books, let alone actually discuss anything, but here that was missing. All this free time is a bit strange to him, but he's getting used to it. ]

[He wishes he could, knowing how essential these weapons are to investigators like them. But hey, guess who's been learning magic, dad...]

It's a rather big repair, but if you wish to try the offer is appreciated. [ Arima isn't sure that would work on quinques anyway. But may as well try it out just to see what comes of it. ]

I wouldn't have offered if I wasn't. [ Arima is too serious for this, but he will teach the other if he really plans on sticking with Arima's...training regiment. ]

It does seem like many people have the capacity for magic or otherworldly powers here. It's all new to me as well.

[ Even if ghouls are strange to others, his world is lacking in magic and supernatural powers. ]

[ What expectations doesn't he have. Arima is a really hardcore teacher, unfortunately, so the question has him pausing. Of course he's dealt with people like Miles before, literally everyone in the ccg was normal, give or take a few due to circumstances, and he treated them all fairly equally. ]

I expect those I train not be afraid of pushing their limits.

[ He might give Miles a break because he's a normal human, but don't count on it lasting long. ]

Being able to take commands and initiate them perfectly is something else that I expect as well.

[ Pushing one's limits is not where the challenge lies. He's pushed his own limits for years and years. ]

What's your definition of perfection - because let me tell you, to be human is to be hellishly fallible.

I can promise that I'm good with challenges, and I'm willing to listen. 'Perfection' might be beyond me, though.

Perfection is being able to preform duties and attacks with precision and ease.

But I don't expect that of someone who has never wielded a blade before. [ That is sorta rude but it's Arima. ]

We'll see how training goes and work from there. If you're willing to challenge yourself, then that will be a good start.

If you like we can start as early as next week. Unless you'd like to learn after the mission concludes. There's not much of a reason to delay our sessions, if it can be helped. And it would be best to get started while we still have some peace.
