It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

[ooc: Please feel free to thread-hop/jack here, that's what this is for!]

I won't do what I don't want to do, unless it's what I need to do for our missions here, and even then, there are some things I won't do.

[ Ergo he's getting a hug by her choice. She's also well aware of stranger danger, she's just like "how stupid are the people on this team" to be honest......... ]

I would like to believe no one on our team is that stupid or untrustworthy or creepy. Though sometimes people are creepy because they're awkward... it's not always bad.

[ Note this does not make her inclined to hug the creepy people, just be aware that they may not, well, be plainly creepy. ]

Well, that's good, anyway. Looks like you've got your head pretty well set on things.

[So he guesses...if she really wants to......that's fine, probably. He's not going to try actively arguing against it, anyway, even if he's still surprised she'd want to in the first place. But ah well...

Honestly, though, somebody would have to be a real idiot around here.....]

Yeah, that might be true. Hopefully it's mostly true around here, anyway. Still doesn't hurt to check, but it sounds like you have that in mind already. [Right.......well. That's probably more than enough big-brothering for one stint here.] Hah, you probably didn't need me to say any of that anyway. Sorry about that. Habit, I guess...

[ She takes that as acceptance instead of him saying please don't do what she proposed. Which is good, since... if he had been truly set against it, she wouldn't have forced it. ]

Thank you for worrying, Shizuo-san. I don't accept your apology, though, because it's okay. I feel like we worry about our friends and things like that. It's nice.

[ Also children, and things like that, but let us not trod down that path... ]

Oh. [Well, that's a first. He's--pretty sure he's never actually had an apology tossed back at him quite this bluntly before? ...It's a little startling, but not necessarily in a bad way--with the context of the rest of her reply, anyway. It's unheard and unseen, but Shizuo laughs a bit to himself at the message.] Well damn, if you don't accept it then I guess there's no forcing it on you, huh? Guess I'll have to call it a day on being sorry.

And friends do worry about friends a lot, probably...
[.....Oh wait. Actually. ...Ah.] I mean, if you don't mind that. Being friends. I just realized I sort of assumed that. I think of you as a friend, anyway...so if you think it's nice then I guess that's ok.

[ There's a satisfaction to having him accept her refusal. She means it, the reasons why she said it. They're all friends here.

To the point where she likewise assumes and is surprised he feels he needs to ask.
]

Of course we're friends! Teammates, too, and friends. You're one of the people I'm glad I've met here. I worry about you, too!

[ How she can mean that to be both reassuring and a note to mention without hesitation is a mystery behind a nature young enough to be blunt and honest enough not to mind sliding past social graces that told her "be more subtle." ]
longtempered: such a gloomy goose (only 5 of his icons are even smiles)

[personal profile] longtempered 2016-11-16 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh no.....

There's a slight delay before anything comes back, but that's mostly on account of Shizuo having no idea how to react to such a completely straightforward and open answer like that.]

Oh

Huh

That's a really nice thing to say.
[Ah, what does he even do with this...there's nothing he can word that might properly convey just how pleasantly surprising that text really is. Well...maybe that's for the better, though. Anyway--] If you do want to be friends I'd be fine with that. I mean, you don't need to worry too much, though...you should probably split that up with a few other people, at least. I only need a bit.

Then we're friends! I'm glad. I like the sound of that.

Though I'm not sure that's how worry works, Shizuo-san. But I'll keep that in mind.
