It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

Then you will do fine. I do not mean to belittle any purpose you may have found. I simply want you aware of the depth of your offer.

If you search yourself, and find that the answer within is that you truly wish to help others, then I think you will do fine with this.

Please also do not think that because you are not capable of much now, you will not be capable of more later. You have grown already so much from the man you used to be when you arrived here. Your potential is only limited by your own dedication.

You can become so much more.

[Asher is unused to this kind of kindly talk from any sort of mentor figure, seeing as Annalise Keating is hardly as gentle or encouraging as Zenyatta. Both are good at what they do, however, and having a variety of people to learn from will be of use to him.

Maybe it will even save him from that horrible fate, that terrible thing that has yet to come.

I hope you're right.

[Because god, is he afraid.

What if no matter how hard he tries, he will never be good enough?

I have often been told that I am.

But do not think on this too much. Our time here is young yet.

[He doesn't respond because he doesn't know what to say.

For right now, he'll do his best to believe.
