It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

[AH.... it's ok, chihiro...]

It's a bummer for us all too. Being an adult's pretty overrated. [more trouble than it's worth, tbh.]

Good point. And learning how to stay that way, too. It's one of the first things they drilled into our heads when I was training with the Shaolin.

You trained with the Shaolin?

[ how to ignore thinking things into words because of getting caught up in her own careful word processing to use the magitek: be distractable along lines of curiosity she can stand. ]

What was that like?

[What was it like? How does he start?]

It was really difficult. Our regiments were extremely strict.

But I learned a lot. And it was like home after a while.

[ sounds like an apt parallel for here. chihiro nods to herself... something no one can see, thankfully. ]

I see. Thank you for sharing that with me, Jin-san.

It wasn't something for everyone, but...

[It was part of who he was-- who his family is and always had been. A destiny thrust upon him he'd accepted-- grudging and uncertain at first, but less that now than ever.]

It was important to me. It's the reason I'm here now, probably. I don't mind talking about it.
