[Hanzo can be seen in the kitchen, in the middle of cooking, apparently. In the background, one might the familiar signs of Chihiro walking past, assisting the surly archer.
What might stick out to those who know Hanzo is a really obvious haircut and earring additions.]
Sometime ago, I had said I would make this team a meal. I had meant to, after Zeta 12, but there were unexpected interruptions.
There is time now. And Chihiro-san has been kind enough to assist me.
Should you like, there is okonomiyaki in the kitchen. There are variations, depending on your preference.
[He turns one over.]
If you are not familiar with it, as I expect many of you are not, it is similar to a pancake, but it is savory, often with cabbage and meat. I am able to do variations, if needed.
...In any case. Consider yourself invited to a meal. Or do not.

Are there ones without meat?
[...]
I'm surprised I got that so even.

...It is impressive, all things considered.

[Is this a compliment? From Kung Jin, to Hanzo Shimada??? You better believe it is.]

( the force behind the haircut, that is. chihiro is glancing at her jewel while picking something hard to make out form this angle up, shoving it further down the counter. )

[sheepish... expression...]
I can't take all the credit. Zenyatta did the piercings.

[ she hadn't even meant to respond to the broadcast when she did, but her genuine surprise seems to have triggered it.
of course the surprise here isn't because of the food, or even the kind gesture behind it...
hanzo, you... you look so cool??? ]

[There's some hesitation.]
...Is everything all right?
no subject
S-Sorry, I... I was just surprised.
[ by what, by what, don't be insulting, olivia...! ]
I didn't know you liked piercings!!
[ ah... ]

action;
( asked as she holds up a jar of pickled cabbage. she's got some nervous, happy energy, waiting to see who'll take them up on Hanzo's offer. )

I have not added it myself.
But let us try it. Do you like kimchi, Chihiro-san?
no subject
( plus why not experiment when they have the chance? she carries the jar on over to him, working at twisting the lid free. it's clearly taking effort, but she grits her teeth and — hah! manages to get the lid turning. )
What else do you think would go best with it?

Could I ask if you would be willing to teach me how to make okonomiyaki? I would dearly love to learn.
Thank you.

[Hanzo glances over the message, then closes his eyes and nods.]
Certainly. I am already showing Chihiro-san; I will welcome another willing to learn. You know where the kitchens are, yes?
text -> action
[ In about fifteen minutes there will be a young lady peeking into the kitchen - she's in uniform but not ALASTAIR'S uniform, brown hair tied in a side ponytail and a notebook in her hand. ]
Hello? Might you be Shimada-san?
[ She switches to speaking Japanese instead of accented English. ]

[That doesn't mean that Keith won't show up to try it. Well, maybe. He's trying to decide.]

[A little more quietly.] I do not know that I am, either. But I am not one to stray from my word.
no subject
[It's odd that he's doing this, but Keith ... is able to think that there might be more to it than he thinks. Perhaps. Or to another person.]

[Well if that's one thing that makes her homesick it's the food. On missions, more often than not they need to make do with what is available and whatever the locals might have, after all.]

he already looks like he's en route, god it's embarrassing but he's hungry as hell.)
I thought I'd have to live off this alien garbage until the end of my fucking days. Hook me up. Extra meat, easy on the batter.

Any specific meat?

(talks and walks at a meandering pace, humming.)
What made you two decide to whip up okonomiyaki, of all things?
(actually feels weird speaking some japanese, with how little he's been able to. hearing it is even rarer with these automatic translators and it pisses him off some awful lot. while english is a useful language, missing your own — and the home it's from — is tiresome.)
