Now, I'm sure we've done something like this before sometime ago, but you know how it is; people come, people go, and we get new faces all the time. So it's a little hard to keep track of y'all sometimes.
But here we are, and I've god a question.
There's a good lot of us that got magic in us before ALASTAIR made, ah, any offerings as such. Maybe even got some magic in your world, sure.
Suffice it to say, I got some interest in what kind there is -- and what magic is like where you're from. How it works. The variety, the limits.
Always good to know about the trade elsewhere, as it were.

Unfortunately, none of this is what he's looking for, but he likes hearing the information anyway.]
I appreciate you sharin' all that, miss. Shame that magic sounds like a rare breed where you're from, but sometimes that's a blessing, too, depending on who's got the magic.

[ She corrects, making a dismissive gesture. She will accept Your Grace or other titles, but those that call her that here do so of their own free will. ]
On that much, we agree. I fear I have angered the warlocks so much that they still scour the seas for me. [ Now she is coy, and allows herself a shade of amusement. ] It is good that they sailed the wrong way.

[He grins, reaching up and rubbing his thumb along the brim of his hat.]
Oh, so we got a clever fugitive from warlocks! What's a lovely lady like yourself done to tick 'em off?

[ She decided to turn aside mid-voyage and sail for the slaver ports, or else they would have found her. Still, she doesn't correct him.
His charm is well-noted. He finds too many answers that way. ]
The Undying Ones are old and wizened things, treacherous creatures of bygone days. They welcomed me for their guest and tried to steal my life for their own. [ And they had nearly succeeded. ] My dragon took umbrage to that, and to the beating heart that bore their revived magic, besides.
[ The words are said sweetly. Zero fucks. ]

[He listens carefully. A powerful woman, in more than a few ways. She's a bit mysterious, but regal perhaps? Twisted Fate is curious regardless, and smiles at her tale.]
Never heard of someone owning a dragon before. They tend to keep to themselves back where I'm from. You have many folk challenging you?
no subject
[ So it is decreed. The question is a queer one, but she chooses to answer with wit. ]
I am a queen. If I should wake up to five praises in the morning, there are five who curse my name by evenfall.
[ There's his answer, to more than one question. ]

Like wearin' a golden target on your back, folks are gonna be interested in takin' what they can -- if that means being sweet to your face one second and tryin' to take from you the next.
Is it somethin' of a relief here? No one makin' demands of your highness an' all.
no subject
And how many golden targets have you known? [ Though not meant to give offense, the question is asked sweetly, direct enough to slyly communicate what she suspects. It has just struck her who Fate reminds her of: a certain sellsword captain who had also seemed so friendly. ]
It is true that I have no petitioners at my gates, only some shadow company led by cats. I suppose I must be thankful for small victories.
[ S a s s. ]

[No one he's known on a personal level, but enough that he thinks he comprehends them and makes no envy toward their position. But he does look down upon them as well.]
It could be plenty worse. It could've been a shadow company led by scorpions.
no subject
Do the scorpions speak? [ She presumes he speaks of giant scorpions. They should have no trouble with smaller ones. ] Will they chide me for my human insolence?
no subject
Oh, they just might, but they're a lot less cute than cats.
whoof sorry, that was a week
[ But she has one more thing to make mention of. Bluntly: ]
What is it you did, in your world?
[ She's told him much and more of magic, so make her day, Fate. Queens must needs have their little games, and she's very curious to see if her guess was far off. ]
