Now, I'm sure we've done something like this before sometime ago, but you know how it is; people come, people go, and we get new faces all the time. So it's a little hard to keep track of y'all sometimes.

But here we are, and I've god a question.

There's a good lot of us that got magic in us before ALASTAIR made, ah, any offerings as such. Maybe even got some magic in your world, sure.

Suffice it to say, I got some interest in what kind there is -- and what magic is like where you're from. How it works. The variety, the limits.

Always good to know about the trade elsewhere, as it were.

But there's also the factor that he isn't even sure he wants to commit down this path yet. There are too many things left undone that he knows he needs to face first. He'll be honest with her... eventually.]

I couldn't really even say without knowin' what they're capable of. It's not like I wanna know how to blow up a town or summon some kind of demon or somethin'.

Really, I'm just curious if you knew what they could do. Even just rumors.

[winces]

No, I... I know what they can do.

[ she's seen them many times herself. even now, even knowing that henry and tharja are well on their side... it still gives her the chills to think about what they're capable of. ]

Their most powerful spell by far is called Nosferatu... it's what made my grandmother call them Magic Vampires.

What can you tell me 'bout these Magic Vampires?

[winces]

It's a terrible power, [ olivia is quite quick to say, voice hitching from the fear it still instills in her. but she is just as quick to rein herself in, knowing that by condemning it, she condemns her friends as well. ]

It... When used deviously, I mean. [ is that what she means? ]

I've seen dark mages steal lives with it, and keep half of what they'd taken for themselves.

There is a fleeting moment that he's interested, but... No. Taking somebody's pride and riches is one thing, but he doesn't take a life if he can help it. Just in defense of himself. What few morals Twisted Fate has? He couldn't follow that kind of path.

He steels himself to not sound invested-- or disappointed.]

Sounds like a real mess if it ain't used right, if it can be used right at all.

[winces]

[ she quiets for a moment, uncertain if she should feel guilt or shame or... acceptance. ]

...Anything can feel right in war.

I wouldn't rightly know. I don't take part.

[winces]

[ she shrugs to her empty room. ]

We don't all get the choice.

Can't imagine what that's like.

You don't get me judgin' on this. People do what they got to, I suppose, when they feel they got no other choice. Just got nothin' to do with me.

[winces]

[ she wonders, too, what that must feel like. to be so blissfully unattached.

(she also wonders if, now, he can even claim such a thing.) ]

I hope you never have to know, then.

[ a pause. ]

And I hope you find what you're looking for.

[He hesitates. Olivia, for all of her sweetness and kindness, is far more perceptive than she displays. Maybe not on purpose, but she could make for hell of a con artist if she wanted.

Eventually, he says quietly:]
