[ it has taken him three days to convince himself to talk to all of Audentes about this — three days that he now wishes he hadn't waited, because with the information from Jason and Lucina, and their numbers already depleted because of the virus... all he's doing is taking people's attention away from finding Dr. Percy.

if it was about anyone else, he wouldn't be doing this. but right now, he couldn't care less if they find the doctor or not. finding someone else takes priority for him. ]

Hey guys... it's Stiles. [ not a great start, as far as speeches go, but maybe some of that can be attributed to the fact he sounds roughly like he's forgotten what sleep is supposed to even be. ]

Look, I know we've got a lot going on right now, finding the fake doctor, all that. But, just listen for a second, okay? Peter's missing. [ a pause as he swallows before powering on; he gives no further explanations about who exactly he's talking about: anyone who has been following Team Science should know Peter, after all. ] And not in the "he was probably transferred" way, the "he's totally infected and ran away after leaving his magitek behind" way. It's been three days, I've searched the city, like, a thousand and ten times but he's —

I don't know where he is. So if you can spare some time to help me look for him... that'd be great. [ the fact that he's actually asking for help with this tells just how dire the situation has gotten.

another pause — it almost seems like he's going to end it there, but he continues, voice tight, ] But be careful if you actually find him. He's — [ god, how does he warn people and still keep Peter's secret identity? is that even something he should be worrying about right now?? ]

He's going to be more dangerous than your usual infected person. [ there, that'll have to do. ]

Just, if you have any news about him, any leads... let me know. Please. [ with that not-at-all-desperate-sounding closing statement, he ends the post. ]

[ there's a pause before he speaks, and a hint of concern (just a hint) that comes with it. ]

Do you think he wants to be found?

[ he can track, if necessary, but something tells him that Peter has his own ideas. ]

[ it's just as well that Loki responds before Stiles has the chance to contact him — he's one of the few he could think of who likely wouldn't be bothered by Peter's powers, so asking him for backup if necessary would be a good idea... only, Stiles remembers Loki's truth sword and asking him to help with this is asking him to divide his time between the search for the doctor and this... and he can't do that.

even so, his voice betrays just the slightest touch of relief when he responds, ]

... no. [ it's not the answer he wants to give, but it's the truth. ] He's probably locked himself off somewhere... but I know that even if he had a plan, he wasn't prepared to enact it. Which means he hasn't had the chance to think it through, or make it foolproof, or something else — something's going to go wrong, and we have to find him before it does.

[ it's so easy to see where his loyalties lie, and for Loki he can't be sure that he wouldn't do the same. (he would just be far more scheming about the whole thing.) ]

So he believes himself a living time bomb ticking down, does he?

[ Loki's imagining a zombie Peter with eight legs, fyi. how friendly. ]

What kind of plan, exactly?

[ he breathes out a humorless laugh and nods, though Loki can hardly see that. ]

Yeah, I think so. It's — I already know he's going to be a danger. He's not exactly wrong. [ just how he knows.... well. let's just not get into that. ]

That's the problem, I don't know. He told Keith he had one, but he never talked about it with me. I think it must have something to do with taking himself out... somehow. [ restraints, medicine, something. ]

Ah, how extreme.

[ the tone in his voice isn't making light of it as much as he's keeping the tempo of not freaking out. Loki has always been put together, always someone who knew what to do, and it doesn't seem to be changing now. ]

A much needed question, but an insensitive one, I know—if you're unsure of his plan, how do you know finding him is for the best?

[ he can understand running on emotions, but he wants to know what he's dealing with. ]

Extreme, yeah, but necessary. I tried to sedate him, too.

[ and it went horribly wrong but let's not focus on that... the point being, he agrees — no matter how painful it is to consider, Peter is a danger. perhaps not the same level of danger as someone like Urahara, but a worse danger than you'd think, anyway... though it's hardly news to Loki. ]

Because I know his plan is going to suck. [ frank, and to the point. he may be emotional about this, but he's always, always careful to consider his opinions, too. ] He wouldn't have had a lot of time to set it up, which means it's sloppy. He'll try to do it all alone, which means if it fails, it fails for good. And because it's sloppy, it's going to fail, he's going to get out or wake up or something, and it's going to be hell.

[ Loki listens carefully, to both the emotion and the logic. Stiles goes between them, then weaves them together.

for a moment he's quiet, pursing his lips and reflecting. ]

[ it may or may not work, but why not? ]

[ it's funny, the way that it could be anyone else saying that and he'd tell them no, I have no time, I can't, I need to keep looking — yet with Loki, he pauses, considers. ]

... yeah, sure.

[ if it's Loki... he trusts him, enough to push away the anxiety, the urgency. to listen. to trust that whatever it is, if Loki thinks it's important, something to be done now, then... then it's fine. ]
