So we are to fight. [Odinson is freshly bathed, his hair tied back in a knot. There's a new light in his eyes at the promise of this. Killing robots is a task well-suited to him. This he can do.]

Being newly-come to this group, I know few of you, and few of you know me. I would know the skills and knowledge of those I will fight alongside. Or die alongside, if this enemy is truly so formidable. [The half-smile that follows indicates he doesn't quite believe that's a possibility.]

Myself, I am Odinson, of Asgardia, God of Thunder. [There's the slightest hesitation there, for anyone who'll notice such a thing. Something unsaid.] I have fought across the nine realms of my universe, and will fight here with hammer or blade or my fists until the enemy is routed or I am slain. If any wish to spar or learn to fight in the days before we are summoned to Oska, you have only to call on me.

Likewise, any tacticians or those with knowledge of Oska or the enemy, share your knowledge. We ought have some plan before we are shipped back. [Is that sarcasm???]

The fit is not the question. [He's worked with stranger, more mismatched teams.] It is the lack of direction.

I suppose that's true. I've never worked with a team that didn't know, without a shadow of a doubt, that they wanted to be there.

And there's the fact that no one is really qualified to be a leader, since ALASTAIR doesn't seem likely to give us one...

One leader among eighty seems unwise. Could we not form smaller groups? Those with similar skills or leanings join together, to be called on when needed?

Now that is exactly what I've always thought would be best! Where I come from, there's a peacekeeping organization divided into thirteen divisions. Some have specific talents- healing, fighting, stealth, and so forth, but for the most part they're divvied up by suitability for the division's particular ideals dictated by the captain.

They all answer to a higher authority, of course, who gives them their marching orders- ALASTAIR, in our case- but the captains decide how the squad approaches things. And, most importantly, the captains and squad members all have different values, but they respect that, so long as the goal of protecting and serving their society is fulfilled and no laws are broken, each action can be justified.

[he sighs] It's a shame it would never work here.

[Frown.] And why would it not?

You'll have too many people wanting to be captains, and too many not wanting to answer to anyone.

Difficult to place, I'm afraid.

[he's been a captain and he has no interest in being one again, but he also doesn't really follow orders... so mostly the latter but with the capabilities that would make him suitable for the former if he were interested.

In the peacekeeping group you were part of, which did you head?

[It's a guess that he had led one, and Odinson isn't sure he's guessed correctly, but he's known leaders of men, and there are signs that this man could lead well, if he chose to.]

[There's a brief pause as Urahara smirks, feeling very called out, but amused, nonetheless. It's always nice when someone sees through his lies and omissions.]

Twelfth Division, the more science and intellect-based one. I actually expanded it quite significantly in my time.
