So we are to fight. [Odinson is freshly bathed, his hair tied back in a knot. There's a new light in his eyes at the promise of this. Killing robots is a task well-suited to him. This he can do.]

Being newly-come to this group, I know few of you, and few of you know me. I would know the skills and knowledge of those I will fight alongside. Or die alongside, if this enemy is truly so formidable. [The half-smile that follows indicates he doesn't quite believe that's a possibility.]

Myself, I am Odinson, of Asgardia, God of Thunder. [There's the slightest hesitation there, for anyone who'll notice such a thing. Something unsaid.] I have fought across the nine realms of my universe, and will fight here with hammer or blade or my fists until the enemy is routed or I am slain. If any wish to spar or learn to fight in the days before we are summoned to Oska, you have only to call on me.

Likewise, any tacticians or those with knowledge of Oska or the enemy, share your knowledge. We ought have some plan before we are shipped back. [Is that sarcasm???]

Gram was the sword of Sigurd, first hero of Asgard. Loki wielded it on Earth for a time. [Is he pleased that Loki has it here too?

But first let him explain-] Weapons such as Gram are powerful and rare. Any warrior would be honoured to have it in his possession.

Oooh, that sounds pretty fancy. Did he have to armwrestle a giant or something to prove his worth? Or pull it out of a stone?

[Here is some stunned silence.

Maybe she's mocking him? She can't be serious.]

Would it be best for you to avoid the fighting?

........ Maybe a little. But o-only because my moves are too powerful, they couldn't take it! It'd be o-overkill!

[she's just Mayaing it]

[She's speaking to someone who regularly dials it down when fighting others.]

[spoilers: she can't fight and she's really insecure about it so she's covering it up with bluster, shhh]

Wh--- Huh?! Why would I be mocking you? You asked me about my skills!

[gosh it isn't all about you, Odinson]

[Hm.] There is a time when warriors boast of their strength to each other, but this is not that time.

Now is the time to face plainly what skills one does or does not have. If you are strong, then do not hide it. Use your strength in defence of Oska. But there are roles in the fight for those who have other skills as well, and there is no shame in that.

[He's seen stranger things than girls who look like Maya turning out to be strong enough to benchpress buses, so who knows. She could surprise him.]

[too bad Maya's noodle arms can't benchpress buses. She's gonna give up with her shenanigans, though, and be a little more serious]

W-Well, I might have been exaggerating a little.... or a lot. I can't actually fight.

[or do anything that's useful (in her opinion), anyway] B-But I'll be cheering you guys on!

[He doesn't look any more grim or disappointed when Maya admits it, he just nods.]

There will be those in the infirmary who need help, as well as others. It will be good to have your support.

[He would do it now, but there's been little thunder around Oska since the fight.]

It would be a poor thing if I were a god of something and could not control it. [There's a touch of irony in his voice.]

That's so cool! I wish I could shoot lightning. I'd be all like, zap, zap, boom! Every time I wanted to make an entrance.

[He sighs.] Then it is good you do not.

C'mon, you can't tell me you've never used lightning or thunder to look cool.

[She's right, but he's too grumpy to admit it.]

That is not what I'll use it for in the upcoming fight, which is what matters.
