text, un: lucina ( backdated to a day before their escape )

Hello, Audentes. For those of you I have yet to meet, my name is Lucina. I come bearing news.

I have spoken to a Zymandis agent. They are here, alone, and the jewelcomms are what notified her to our presence; she was willing to answer my questions, and in return, asked the same of me. The following is what I learned:

They seem believe that the Timeline is ill; the multiverse no longer has the energy to sustain itself, and will eventually meet its demise. Given this, their mission is to destroy everything, so that the Timeline will be reborn stronger.
[ Those familiar with her should know there's a certain level of anger in her tone, text or otherwise. ] At least, this is what their Timeline.exe has told them— not only so, the original Timeline.exe, as well as its "update", were created by the same individual: Theodor Arbatel, their "Leader".

If anything requires clarification, I will try my best to answer them.

( ooc. the thread is here for the curious. while i've gotten a lot of info the thread is currently incomplete, so there may be delays in getting to questions from characters!! otherwise feel free to threadjack / etc. )

[There is a point to that argument, but Odinson will not hear it.]

History repeats. What has happened before will happen again.

And if the choices are destruction followed by rebirth, even if it means we'd reach this same point again sooner or later, or an eventual demise of the multiverse with no chance for rebirth, wouldn't the former be preferable?

[Although again, he's asking these questions purely out of his own struggle to understand this team's mentality. For himself, he doesn't really care. He'll be dead either way, and in the meantime he'll do whatever it is that ALASTAIR requests of him whether he agrees with it or not. He's too conditioned towards obedience of a higher authority to do anything else.]

I choose oblivion over rebirth. I have done so before, and I will choose it again if the timelines cannot be stabilised.

[He's not opposed to oblivion himself, either, wants it even, if only on the singular level. The singular being himself.]

That's interesting. I would have thought most around here would have wanted the continuation of life no matter the cost. It's the stance the majority has always taken in the past.

This sudden turn around is somewhat confusing, I'll admit.

My people, the gods of Asgard, were in a similar cycle. Over and over we were born, lived, and were destroyed in a cataclysm. I know not how many cycles this lasted, but each time was the same.

When I learned of this, I put an end to it. I cut the threads of fate. Now when we die, it will be a true end.

That sounds entirely preferable, I'll admit. Once is more than enough.

Would you feel the same way, if this situation was somehow different? If the 'rebirth' being spoken of here is an entirely different form of life altogether, that has nothing to do with any of us?

[Again he's just...interested.]

No.

[He won't even entertain the idea.]

It is not in my nature to surrender.

Oblivion could be seen as a kind of surrender. Destroying the multiverse could be seen as a defiant act towards the preservation of life, if Zymandis' leader isn't simply a madman.

Perspective is a funny thing.

Do not mistake me. I do not intend just to accept the decay of this timeline without a fight.

[He won't play the perspective game.]

[As far as he's concerned, perspective is hardly a game. The fact that so few people here are capable of seeing outside of their own perspective and take their way of viewing things to be an immutable truth regardless of the consequences is something that subtly bothers him, leaves him feeling all the more cut off and isolated. As though he never will have any place among them.

But, at the very least, it doesn't surprise him anymore.]

And if that fight happens to be futile?

[Not that he's opposed to a futile fight himself, but--]

Oblivion is not unfamiliar to me. I do not fear it.

[He's died and been nothing before. It's not so bad.]

[personal profile] ofobedience 2017-07-07 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well. I can't argue with that.

[Not when oblivion is what he's wanted for himself for the longest time, now.]

I cannot force others to share my view of this matter, only give my opinion. I hope this helps you as you decide your opinion of these matters.

Ha ha, well. My opinion, as usual, is irrelevant. But at the very least this helps in my endeavours to understand where the rest of the team are coming from.
