I have discovered some information of importance that may aid us going forward.

As it turns out, our terrorists are not affiliated with the colors they wear. I was able to determine that they acted alone, without the instruction of the Empress of the Crashing Wave.

I believe an unknown third party may be attempting to escalate tension in order to incite civil war between the clans.

So there is a radical in the other faction? I do not suppose you were able to ascertain if it was one of their nobility?

Undetermined. They were not very interested in anything beyond their mission. But I am not convinced they were of the Sea Clan at all.

[kisha]

A radical could just as easily exist in any of the clans, I suppose. Loyalty to one's Emperor [Empress] over all else is a much lauded virtue, but there are those who value petty things such as land or wealth or personal pride more so.

What is your impression of the Flowerlands?

It is a land of farmers and simple folk, from what I have seen. The most martial weapons I have seen on them are polearms and farming equipment. A few hunters.

Should it come to war, however... it will surely be razed first.

Then they have little to gain should the two clans wipe one another out, if the battle will be fought on their lands.

Without the merchants and the warriors of the two clans, then to whom would farmers sell or turn to for protection? I heard they have a lord, but if he is to believe they would benefit from such a thing it is surely shortsighted.

[Though... that doesn't make it impossible. There are shortsighted men in the world.]

This world is much like my own... and if their war is as similar, then the first thing to burn will be the crops.

I have no reason to believe that anyone from the Sea Clan would have been able to slip into the festival undetected while wearing their colors. Which leaves us with zealots inside the Mountain Clan's walls.

[Of course, some perspective from the Sea Clan would also help.]

Certainly not while wearing them, but perhaps smuggled in disguised as common people... it would take only moments to change.

But, the same applies to potential radicals in this land, were they to travel from their headquarters in their own garb to the festival grounds.

[Which unfortunately... leaves them no closer to an answer, but.]

I suspect we will need more insight from Empress Youmi’s lands to be certain.

Still, it is good to know what you have declared. I had hoped a marriage might be the solution to this predicament, but of course a group born of ALASTAIR would not encounter something so simple.

Marriage has united clans and solved land disputes for centuries in my world.

These people should be familiar with such tradition, surely. They are much as mine, save the way they treat their women and men.
