Well now. This is all hell of a thing -- ALASTAIR, savin' worlds, temporal bugs full of acid an' whatnot -- but I've got a bit of a conundrum.

I'm a man of many skills, but a cobbler? Oh, far from it. And I've a pair of boots that are a bit in need of a rescue. Suppose I could take what I've been generously given by your very fine organization, but these are a bit near an' dear to my heart.

I don't suppose any of you wondrously talented individuals could help me out? I'd be very much obliged.

I was asking for some help with fixing my boots. I'm pretty fond of them.

That is not what you asked for, I know, but that will prevent your boots becoming more worn until you find a cobbler.

But these boots don't have the issue of being worn down, I'm afraid. I might have to cut my losses from the sounds of it. True shame.

Twisted fate? [If he knows Persian, she sounds like she's got a terrible accent. If he doesn't, her rapid speech is amused. She leans her spear against her shoulder as she reaches out to type with her other hand on the keyboard she pulls up]

I have to see what you look like with a name like that. Is it a formal title or a nickname.

I don't know if you're truly ignorant or if you're playing the fool, but either way you are a stinking pile of shit!

[And with that sent off, she bares her teeth and terminates the conversation]

[In the time that she's been gone Serene has punched a tree, yelled at another tree and stomped about in the glade for long enough that her temper has cooled.

And she's embarrassed by herself. What is she to be so riled up over such a message, twelve? It had been so long since anyone had looked at her and not seen a human, one of the feared and fabled warriors from across the northern sea, that she's rattled at not being able to lean on those useful stereotypes for her first impression.

This isn't what she wanted to become.

And so once she's calmed down again she switches her communicator back on to message him again, stony faced]

I should not have called you that. However, you should be more respectful of how you address strangers here, especially as someone new. You offended me with your words, for you addressed me not as your equal or as your more experienced team mate, but as a child.

You will offend many others if you do not learn to control your turns of phrase until you come to understand the cultures and temperaments of the people you speak to. Do you understand what I am telling you?

[Frankly, he hadn't been overly concerned about his choice of words. If anything, it allowed him to learn a thing or two about her as a person, as all conversations go. How to poke and prod -- something he's too good at. Making someone mad enough to go blind with just a few phrases.

Old habit. It was worthy a laugh or two.]
