Well now. This is all hell of a thing -- ALASTAIR, savin' worlds, temporal bugs full of acid an' whatnot -- but I've got a bit of a conundrum.

You are obviously a foreigner, but I am always hopeful that someone I introduce myself to might simply turn out to be a human from another continent. You will find that apart from a few exceptions every human in this place is from a planet named Earth. It can be lonely.

Can't be that lonely with all the people here.
And I can't say I'm too eager to see a familiar face.

It's the dissonance, I find. The translator gives a false sense of familiarity when it's working properly, for it translates words so seamlessly that everyone sounds as if they could have been born in the same village as me. You will find that, once you begin talking to people who are not speaking your tongue. They will sound as if they should understand all of your cultural mores and prejudices but the content of their words will be completely alien.
