( Peter is clearly on top of something high when he turns the magitek on, magitek that isn't his but anyone who knows him will recognize him, whether his name is paired with the message or not. he hesitates before he starts, but he's hesitated about a week now. he's sort of out of hesitation time. )

I am guessing most of you remember me, but if you don't, my name is Peter. I just... I wanted to apologize. I get that doesn't mean much, considering how many people I hurt and I should have seen it sooner and prevented it in the first place. ( he shrugs, looking down and his shoulders in a weary slant. ) I'm still sorry. If you got caught up in it, or... you know someone that was. Sorry won't make up for it, but I... I'll do whatever it takes to make sure it never happens again.

( it means more honesty than he's ever had on a large scale, and that's the terrifying part of all this. he doesn't see an option in it anymore. ) I'm sorry I didn't talk about... what I can do. It's a long story. ( a long story with dead girlfriends, so no, he doesn't wanna super get into that part. ) I should have said something before it got so bad. It's too late to go back, but maybe I can say something now. If you want to know, I guess I'll try and answer.

( he looks uncomfortable, but hey. it's at least a start. last but not least, though, he sighs and rubs a spot behind his ear. ) If you don't want anything to do with me, after... ( after he went feral and tried to eat people, is the part he's not saying, ) I get it. I'll try and respect it, if I know, too.

( and, last but not least... ) I think we should consider the endgame of the people that were effected by Bristol. There's a lot to deal with after you get the cure, especially those in late stages of infected. ( speaking from experience... cough....... ) If we can get donations together, provide any kind of support for the people that got sick or ... lost someone. If we can I think we should.

( Peter definitely feels like he's talked enough (for prob the second time in his entire life, and coincidentally the first time was just a few days ago, w e i r d), so with that he's done. at least for now. he probably has a mystic samurai coach to keep an eye on, anyway. she might claim to be petersitting but if anyone is at risk of falling off the building, it's not Peter.

It was my fault. I was the one that generated the test for Bristol, I was up to my neck in blood swatches and symptoms, and I didn't stop to think and people got hurt because of it.

( there's probably no convincing him of the contrary, at least for the time being. great power, great responsibility.

he still hesitates when it comes down to it, even though this is exactly what he signed up for. it's not easy to talk about, even if he's seen full well how dangerous it was to stay silent. )

I've got mutated genes, it makes me a lot stronger than your average human. I can... stick to things. ( there's just not a good way to explain that one. ) I have predictive senses that helps me avoid getting hit.

Both, I guess. I was looking into some research my father did, and ended up getting bitten by some of his work. That's how I ended up like this.

Bitten? So the original experiment was an animal.

( he realizes how bizarre it sounds, but that is his life now, apparently. being part spider. )

I've... heard about experiments like that before. None of them were exactly humane, but I get if it happened to you on accident. Still, sounds like a heavy thing to suddenly be thrown at you.

That sort of ended up being the problem.

( his father had wanted to do good with his research, and Oscorp had wanted to formulate a weapon. Richard Parker had died to try and keep his discoveries out of the wrong hands, and Peter had still managed to trip right into them. )

It was, at the time. I made a lot of mistakes. It's been awhile since then, though. Three years, I guess.

Look, for whatever it's worth, I get the whole thing about keeping your powers a secret. It's a force of habit where you gotta look out for yourself.

Mistakes will happen.

[And frankly, he doesn't see that Peter was in the wrong, but that's neither here nor there.]

Anyway. Suppose it's only fair to offer: I know about you, did you want to ask anything from me?

Yeah. I had my reasons for hiding it, I just... they're not good enough reasons to answer for what happened.

( he sighs, but he's more than happy not to dig into that statement any further. )

You told me once, you were drained of your magic? What kind of magic do you have?

( it's sort of hard for him to ask about magic in the first place, but hey. open mind! )

My powers rely on cards. Playing cards, or fortunetellin' kind. River folk like me start out as fortunetellers. They're born pacifists, so most of 'em tend to use their skills passively.

Then there's me. Lucky you guys. [There's a bit of sarcasm in his voice.]

( magic itself is hard enough for him to wrap his mind around, but what could be magical about cards? )

Like tarot cards? Or something similar? How do you use those offensively?

( after a beat, he realizes, ) You don't have to answer if you don't want to.

Nah, it's fine. Might as well.

Tarot cards work. I used to use those for awhile. I can infuse magic into cards and they have different effects. Some explode like a bomb, or I can snare someone for a few seconds. More importantly, the cards will tell me if I'm in danger, or allow me to see things within a certain radius. I get true vision on locations and people while I'm focusin'.

( he should be a little more doubtful of precognitive abilities, but when his spider senses are basically that in the very short term, he doesn't have a leg to stand on being overly skeptical...

okay maybe he does, because as always the concept of magic is hard to wrap his head around... but he's much better than he used to be. )

If you infuse them, do you have to use it right away? Or whenever you need it? Like... premixing, only with cards.

Nah. It's instant, whenever I want them to. I don't even need to enchant cards for some of their uses. All of 'em respond to me. I just need to enchant them if I'm in the middle of a fight. Otherwise, they'll tell me what I want to know, and I can feel 'em.

Makes for an easy card game, if I really wanted to use magic.
