[With one hand stretched out and the other holding onto something mounted over his shoulder, Ban popped in on his own post. He looked somewhat dizzy, throwing himself to the side very suddenly. Landing on his feet, Ban looked as if he had just rolled off of the side of a horse--one belonging to an unconscious Masamune Date. Ban shifted the load on his shoulder before tossing him over the back of the horse. At that point, one would be able to see his face in the midst of being knocked out, slumped over the horse.
He looked as if he had been tossed in the dirt--which was pretty much what happened.]
Hey. [Ban gave Masamune's cheek a little smack. He gave him another one. He even settled for pinching his nose shut for a little. Nothing happened.]
Need some heeeelp~. I gave him a pat on the back and he got knocked out.
[Then, Ban lifted a bottle of liquor to his lips--one that apparently came out of nowhere--drinking it back for a few moments before returning to what he was saying.]
Someone wanna take a look at him? There's gotta be somebody who likes this guy~. So, hurry up before I start tryin' to treat him.

Oh, so that's his name~. I thought it was Master Money~.
no subject
P-Please, [ she says again, with a firmer tone this time, ] weren't you just asking for help? I'm offering — please accept it!
no subject
[He added, very abruptly--]
What're you, a squirrel? C'mooon, focus, lady~.
We're north, towards the woods~.
[Since there was only one major forest within the barrier--it would figure to be a fairly lazy, yet sensible direction to go in.]
no subject
Stay there, [ she says, in what is probably a surprisingly stern voice from someone so squirrely, but she's already on the move, gathering her bag and cloak with her. ]
no subject
[Leaning against the horse, Ban opted to whistle a tune alongside Olivia's running. It seemed like a fair way to pass the time--]
no subject
she'll find her way there soon enough, a bit breathless and flushed in the cheeks. the snow had made it more difficult to get through, but thanks to santa's present, she is not at risk of totally freezing her extremities off.
by the time she comes upon them, she's already tugging her little satchel out from her side, digging into it for the little glass vial. ]
no subject
On the plus side, he was gone.]
no subject
at least she can tend to masamune in peace?!
maybe......................
but how the heck is she gonna get them both back into town, d'oh ]
no subject
Oh, look. It's Gintoki — and he's on a horse. Masamune's horse. What gives him the right to ride a horse? (has he ever ridden a horse before? Probably, but it was questionable at this point.) ]
Oi, oi, oi! Stop! STOP! Heel! I'll wrap you with your mane and strangle you!
[ —and the horse, along with he white haired protagonist, end up running past Olivia and Masamune.
gotta go fast, take two..... ]
no subject
wondering...
if maybe she should be doing something about that. hm.
nah she's sure gintoki's got it. she goes back to her work. ]
no subject
[ here he comes around again— WHY DOES THIS THING HAVE AN ENGINE KIND OF THING STRAPPED TO IT— and the horse nearly passes them again, only to rear up on it's hind legs and ... —
PLOP falls Gin-san.
The horse seems to settle down once the object is off of his back and whips it's tail. Gintoki lies there in the snow, rather stunned, merely looking up at the sky.
Fuck horses, man. ]
no subject
and then, so very quietly, there is a sigh. it's a good thing she still has some concoction left... it looks like she'll be needing it. ]
Are you alright, Mr. Fruit?
[ she hasn't yet left masamune's side, one hand still pressing over his neck to feel for his pulse, but she looks ready to, just in case gintoki isn't. ]
no subject
[ Oh, my goodness. Gintoki crawls to his feet and staggers, merely giving the horse a dirty look before turning around to see—
ah ...
He looks at Olivia wordlessly, a snort passing through his nostrils. ]
Does Masamune-san have a brain? Is his brain existent? Did it get sucked out by aliens long ago?
[ it's nice to see you too, Olivia. ]
no subject
If you're well, Mr. Fruit, you don't need to yell...
[ she withdraws her hand from masamune, all Serious Business right now, and busies herself with drawing out a vial that might look familiar to gintoki... and a small sponge. this, she soaks carefully in a bit of the concoction...
and then proceeds to stuff it into masamune's mouth.
(he may or may not notice the faint flush on her lips when she does this, and how fervently she refuses to look at the other man while doing so.) ]

Anyway, he's a bit frazzled at the moment— Ban really puts him in a bad mood. Thankfully, Olivia's request doesn't go unheard and he actually (gasp) listens to her.
Falling quiet for a moment, he finally shifts over to where Olivia and Masamune are, though, he is giving Olivia some space.
In a hushed tone as he studies his friend, sweeping part of his fringe aside to study one of his small injuries: ]
Bastard.
[ It was directed more at Ban, who wasn't present, but interpret that as you please. ]
2.2
That guy.
Oli-san, don't get near him. The guy that did this. He's a real pain in my ass.
no subject
so she just nods quietly, taking the advice in stride.
she watches some of the color drain back into masamune's face; the concoction is working, but it's slow goings, considering he isn't manually ingesting it himself.
after a moment, she holds the vial out towards the silver-haired man. ]
How's your head?
[ she heard you fall on it, after all. ]
no subject
[ His response is quick, though he did ache some. Nothing he couldn't handle, though. The guy had been slashed by swords, bound by ropes and beaten, fallen from high building, etc... etc.. and not a tear sheds from his eyes. Maybe if Masamune wasn't injured, he would play it up and get some attention but—
His mind always goes elsewhere and not on himself when somebody he cares about is in need. Olivia doesn't need to know how Ban physically and verbally abused Alice; how Gintoki felt his blood turn cold at the sight of that and nearly snapped. She doesn't need to know how Gintoki fearlessly wrung his fingers into Ban's neck because he was weaponless and attempted to choke him to death.
Otherwise, Ban would had gotten a taste of his blade— straight through his abdomen.
Anyway, he sees an opportunity and he goes for it. You know, to encourage Olivia. That's what he is striving to do with this woman and he's pretty obstinate when it comes to him achieving a goal. ]
Good thing you showed up.
I was taking him to you anyway.
[ which actually was the truth. ]
no subject
M-Mr. Masamune is a good friend, [ she tries to explain, but all she ends up doing is tapering off in what might be recognized as guilty silence. she bites down on her lip, looking near tears for a second —
she should tell him, shouldn't he? surely he deserves to know. he has to know. that she... and masamune, his friend... that they...
but why? a small voice sounds in the back of her mind. why does he have to know? what does he care where her lips have been?
silly, her mind reminds her. you're being silly. —
she lets it all out in a rush of air, eyes hastily blinking back her tears. ]
I'll, um. I'll be out of Concoction soon. [ absently, she reaches over to wipe as some that has spilled out of the corner of masamune's mouth. she used too much, what a waste— ]
Next time, it would be better if you took him to Sieglinde Sullivan. She'll take good care of him.
[ and you too, she adds quietly. ]
no subject
[ Gintoki hums lowly, cupping his chin and stroking it slightly, not looking at Olivia.
Who the hell was Sieglinde Sullivan? ]
Please take care of yourself.
[ which is the Japanese equivalent to gesundheit. Not like Olivia will get that, but— what a mouth full of a name.
He finally looks up at Olivia, half lidded gaze fixated on her. ]
No, I'd rather anybody go to you.
[ He says this stubbornly, seeming pretty set with that's just how it's gonna be. ]
no subject
N-No, I'm not really a healer, [ she insists, so fervently that the words kind of tumble clumsily out of her mouth. she holds up the vial, the contents of it sloshing from the movement. ] This is all I have, once it's gone, I-I won't be able to do anything.
[ pls?? don't be so reckless! ]
no subject
[ Gintoki gets himself comfortable— he knows Masamune should be waking up any moment now, so he isn't going to leave his side. He pulls his bokuto from his belts and slides it between his own legs, allowing the hilt of it to rest against his chest. He leans back on his arms, practically hip to hip with Masamune. ]
Sure, other people can probably heal— other people can probably nurse and doctor and all that crap. All that stuff heals physically— that's easy. [ No, Gintoki. It wasn't easy. People go to school for a long time to work in the medical field, but—]
What you've got— people don't have. Mercy, compassion, beauty and grace. You're genuine to them. I know; cause you were genuine to me.
Stuff like that heals the heart.
That's the toughest thing to heal, you know. 'Cause that's where people keep all of the things that hurt the most.
[ He presses his two fingers to his chest, right over his heart. ]
Right there.
no subject
embarrassing, maybe. but regretful? no.
the point is, it's not something she hasn't already heard before, to some extent, and that's why she looks humbled now, shoulders hunching slightly, eyes flickering away in shame like a student who had had to have the directions repeated for them once more. absently, she reaches up to fiddle with one of her braids, a nervous gesture that at least keeps one of her hands busy while the other grips at her vial.
she almost asks, what is hurting you? but she catches herself in time. good. she's learning. ]
You always seem to know the right thing to say, Mr. Fruit, [ she says around a soft sigh, almost wistful. almost envious. ] Is that your super power?
no subject
Gintoki has to physically prevent himself from snorting. He's been doing a good job biting his tongue a lot around Olivia— he's a very foot in mouth kind of guy. Though, encouragement and really dissecting people as to who they are and what they may need to hear.. he has years of experience. He has had years of helping people, even through that tough and asshole exterior he so proudly put on display; he cared about others.
His pinky finger goes up into his left nostril. ]
My superpower is flinging a booger over 20 meters. [ this is proof he doesn't know what the right thing is to say all the time. ]
[ For the simple things, he doesn't always say the right thing. He never had much social interaction through his childhood to be too much of a pro of it. A lot of the roots of his profound words lay the teachings of his deceased teacher.
a'right then. ]
no subject
Luckily he has people like Gintoki and Olivia looking out for him. He does seem to breathe easier and look more as if he's resting rather than knocked out cold where waking him would take days.
(It doesn't help he hasn't slept well in weeks, ever since prison even if he did acquire forced resting time to recover from that.)
His horse seems restless, perhaps mostly because there is nothing but snow and dirt beneath its hooves and it is hungry (always hungry). It watches this strange display before deciding while the two moving ones interact, it will deal with its master. If Olivia wasn't right there with him, the horse probably would deal with Masamune taking a nap like this more aggressively. Instead it walks over and stops opposite side of Olivia and Gintoki, letting them do their thing, snorting as it looks down at the samurai with intense eyes...
... Before using its long tail like a fly swatter in a downward slap to Masamune's face, the momentum similar to the snapping of a whip. That is enough to jolt him except it's also enough that the first thing his body does is gasp sharply only to be greeted with the sponge Olivia had settled in his mouth to help with getting her concoction into his system. Which means—
...He chokes on it.
Yo you two hope you weren't planning on having a moment over that specialty of Gintoki's because one Date Masamune is awake and gagging just the right amount to ruin it all entirely. Excuse him as he turns away from Olivia and Gintoki to cough violently and get the foreign item out of his mouth before he died for real.
His horse is just staring down at him with a trademark horse!lineface (which may also be somewhat an 'lol' face for them, too...) it's probably trying to decide if it should have let gintoki continue his trainwreck solo or if its master circumstance is more worth it. ]
