VIDEO - un: p. parker [TRIGGER WARNING, BODY HORROR, GORE, ETC)
( so, this was really not how he wanted to introduce himself to his fellow teammates. between half of the team apparently being missing to the natives winding up on shore with organs removed and their eyes gouged out. he's Spider-Man and he still feels useless in really helping people. he has his suit and his webshooters but his strength is gone.
for once, he really is a normal guy, and it's been a long time since he felt that way. still, as uncertain as it makes him, he refuses to think that he can't do anything at all. he's still got to try. all of them do. )
First things first, I guess. I'm sure we've all seen the bodies washing up on shore. I... I mean, I tried not to look too closely, but I guess that guy was right about sacrifices. ( Peter looks a little green, looking down and shaking his head. ) I've covered any body I've seen but we've... we've gotta do something. Bury them, or... cremate them, I don't know. But we can't just leave them. ( suddenly being space kidnapped is just a little too real. he never imagined cremating sacrificed bodies would be on the itinerary. )
We've got to do something to see nobody else ends up on that shore. Maybe night watches. We can keep some patrols and do something if something goes south, maybe figure out who is responsible and where they're taking them.
( he's not okay with just letting more people die. it feels inherently wrong that so many already have, but he's determined to make sure no more do, or at least try. )
Last but not least, I guess... did anyone come here with technology? Like, cell phones, anything with wires, stuff like that. I'm not sure where the rest of our team is, but if I can get a radio together and amplify the signal enough, if they have access to one we'll be able to contact them, figure out where they are. I mean, it's a longshot of all longshots, but I guess that's better than nothing.
( who knows if it'll work. any of it. but he's got to try. try something. it's a lot to put on the agenda, but he'll skip the sleep if it means they can fix things. )
...right. And I'm Peter. Hi. Gotta say, this was the worst orientation I've ever had.

[ He's not that crazy, though he's had way too many desperate people try to pay him to do it. ]
Something you wanted to know?
no subject
( because for him, magic isn't reality. he assumes it's some kind of advanced science from a different reality, which ... well, according to theoretical physics, isn't too far outside of the possibility.
magic, somehow, was. )
Probably not important here. Unless they actually do start walking around.
( and then he'd be scientifically curious as to how it all worked. )
no subject
[ there's kind of only one way, to him. ]
no subject
( and he doubts Magnus has an answer for that. )
no subject
You're right, not my department. But as a footnote, the last time I encountered the dead again, bits of her had been pieced together with mechanical parts. Had all her memories, I'm told. Very inventive. Make of that as you will.
no subject
( he's not sure he can believe that, stranger on the internet, but it sure is an idea. )
Either way, I think we've got enough going on here without walking dead.
no subject
[ Not that he thinks a radio will be any use, but. You know. Why crush dreams? ]
no subject
So you're affected, too? I mean, with the... uh, block, or whatever, is going around?
( Peter has suffered from it too but luckily (unluckily? ? ?) his intelligence has nothing to do with his mutated genes. so the idea of some kind of blanket restriction on genetic abilities is rather fascinating to him.
so much science. it's just everywhere. sorry Magnus. )
no subject
[ Which most people here seem to. Magnus eyes him curiously. He could be anything from human to werewolf to ifrit. He isn't judging. (Also not judging for the science.) ]
no subject
( no really. tell him. because if there was someone that wasn't affected it could help explain what was going on and how they could fix it. )
How long you been? Did you experience a gradual decrease, or was it all and then nothing? Did you see or touch or possibly inhale anything suspicious?
( peter... stop... )
no subject
Luckily, Magnus wants this solved so he's willing to humor him. Also, he has nothing better to do. ]
Specifically, that the volcano blew up, everyone's powers went completely wild, and then they fizzled out again. I'm told prior to that, the decrease was gradual, though I wasn't here early enough to find out. [ there's a small pause. ] I suppose if you're genuinely curious for science, you could put up a survey for the network at large.
no subject
( oh, Magnus, you're still there! right! he totally forgot. he trails off and turns back into the conversation like he didn't just spend half a minute talking to himself. )
As much as I want to, I'm not sure that's the right priority to have right now. At least not until we stop these disappearances.
( he misses his super senses quite badly, but this is not a puzzle he can solve quickly, and who knows how many more could be hurt while he fumbles over tables and surveys. besides, he's got no equipment to actually test anything, so... it'd largely be conjecture. )
no subject
Well, who knows? If we're lucky, the disappearances are related and we can solve both at the same time, and I can finally get myself a glass of wine.
[ Or, you know, a whole bottle. Probably not, though. They're never that lucky. ]
no subject
( not what he meant Pete but okay. )
I still can't focus on that when there are natives dying around us. Not sure I could fix it quickly or at all, anyway.
