Well this has been a delightful show in how ungraceful pointless and needless violence is.

While I could care less what that whole fiasco was about, if there are those who are still hurt, I can offer my help in quick healing provided everyone would start thinking instead of throwing fists.

That is, thinking.

not hitting, not throwing, not punching, not biting.

thinking. can we all manage that for five seconds?

[Harry really isn't certain how he's supposed to read that "fine." Is she in agreement? Did she understand his perspective? Should he press the matter? Reason and logic tells him that "pressing the matter" is likely a bad idea. But he's not always good at listening to it.

This time, he'll go with it, and keep an eye on what she has to say to see if there are any signals to change his mind on the matter.]

It's hard to say. I think they would have reacted more if they were scared of it. Then again, if they told anyone about it, they might not be believed. There was a lot happening.

Is your magic very flashy?

It is for me, too. Discreet, that is. I don't know that they would guess what you were up to.

Me, I hid my wand, and the people who arrested me didn't even think to take it away. It helped a great deal in getting out and finding information.

They aren't very informed, I guess you could say. But that doesn't uncover the mystery of whether or not our magic is accepted or even if magic would work the same way here. I think there has to be something.

I guess I'm going around in circles here. Sorry.

[That's a lot to ultimately come up with "I don't really know." Frankly, Harry really just doesn't know for certain.]

A wand, yeah. Each wizard acquires one before they enter schooling. Sometimes you can have it as a hand-me-down, though. Our fairies are rather different sounding, by the way. Ours wouldn't carry any wands. No one but wizards are allowed to.

I did. Or I think I did. Four people have disappeared. All human. It seems to support the suspicion that people are disappearing from their homes for some kind of sacrifice.

But everything adds up very tidily.

It's more a matter of legislation than 'odd ways with magic'.

[Though he realizes that having such a structured system might be strange to another world. He wonders if it is.]

Do you mean that it makes sense that the goblins would sacrifice people?

They have a reputation for being ... very difficult to deal with where I come from. Vengeful, greedy, and they don't let people go back on deals. I don't know that they'd go as far as sacrifice, but they are willing to bring harm if they want something.

And yes, there's a whole ministry dealing with it in England. I figure it's the same all over the world, though I haven't interacted much with wizarding society outside of my country.
livedtwice: (the boy who's rather bored thank-you.)

Yeah, but again, a lot of people were 'eager to battle'.

The magical society is kept a secret where I come from. It's for our safety and theirs, and that means there needs to be some structure upholding it.

[Without that structure, Harry imagines things would be even more difficult to pull off. Wizards keep themselves and Muggles safe at the same time with that separation.]

We'll always need more time, even if I wish it was much easier than that.

[Harry is resigned to the fact that they'll be here for a while.]

What was magic like in the world where it was well known? Was anyone worried about it?

We don't have anything called 'light magic', but we do have something called dark magic. It sounds very similar. Some of the laws about magic use constrain people from utilizing those kinds of spells, but it's easier outside of England.
