[ If it sounds like Alice is daycare, there's a good reason for it. She looks a little tired and very confused. There's a good number of children around her and one decides to plop themselves on her lap.

Hello, there. Can you stand, just for a minute? It shan't take long, then you can sit in my lap all you want.

[ She shoos him along. Alice heaves a deep sigh, holding her face.] ]

For a small minute, I thought I was back in London. Possibly because I have been around a large number of children, this many, with same limited resources.

I suppose my question is, is there a particular reason why I came back to over a dozen or so children? Not that I mind it, although I wouldn't be opposed to having a bigger space.

[ Yes, when did this happen? Alice has forgotten some tidbits of that fight, after all. ]

[Turning on his jewel and walking without pointing it at himself, Ban walked along rooftops, dragging a few burlap sacks behind himself with a slouch in his back. What one could see was one hand, clutching a bottle of ale, occasionally raising it to Ban's lips as he let out a low hum, making his way somewhere.]

He was curious as to how crazy Alice was getting as he approached, so he watched--not aware that he didn't have to actually respond to hear anything.]

Alice tries to uphold a calm disposition in the presence of children, especially little ones. There's not a whole lot she can do, especially when the same little boy decides to randomly plop himself back on her lap.

She's forgotten how affectionate little children can be when they're happy and active. ]

[ Have you ever tried walking through children? It's like herding cats and takes quite a bit of time to get to the door. Oh, my god, she's going to kill whoever did this.

Alice opens the door, followed by what feels like an ungodly pair of little eyes behind her. ]

Ye- Gin? What are you doing here?

<sub>[ Gintoki looks like he's been patched up after all of the fighting he engaged in; there's a bandage on his temple from that one particular blow, both of his wrists are wrapped up. Under his shirt, there's a bandage between his chest and shoulder and he still is having trouble walking. Despite all the running away he did, Gintoki got involved against humans and against goblins way too much, it looked like. He probably should be in bed right now, still recovering since nobody magical has come by to heal him yet. Just the good, traditional patch up and go. He's all too familiar.

I absolutely concur, believe me, and if you're willing to offer a hand, I'll take it. [ She's tired, so she's a little overwhelmed. ]

That is, if some of them have a home to go to. Which I hope they do, or I'm going to have a few words with a white-haired nuisance. [ A pause for clarification, as she realizes Gin could get grief, too. ] A really tall white haired man.

I think I may know precisely who that is. He seems like the type to leave someone with a lot of children. I bet he had a pretty good excuse for it, too. [He pauses, looking rueful.] Or will, if you haven't heard it yet.

I'm really willing to help. I'm certain they have somewhere to go. And honestly, I think it's better that we do that than try to worry about them ourselves. We don't know how long we'll be here. [So the sooner the better.]

They're not brats.

[ In the midst of several loud children, she says this. She's far too used to being around children, that she tunes out the shrieking and playing, even the little boy that plops himself down on her lap, sucking his thumb. ]

It's a mixed response, really. I've been told a sheep haired man guided them here and that he has long limbs, like a spider. Nothing solid, other than apparently this was a lovely room and this is where they should go to stay safe.

[ that is, he's not explicitly trying to be insulting, but it won't really matter either way. though it seems like she's just fond of them in general, or she's already bonded with these kids in such a short time. he doesn't know about this spider-limbed guy, but... ]

Sometimes children make good judges of character, but not always. There are some things they just won't be able to see, unlike adults.

It's a great number of them, I would like the help.

sometimes adults aren’t able to see them either. or maybe they just don’t want to see them.

[ willful ignorance. where you only see what you want to and ignore the rest. once she thought herself a good judge of character, she’s not so certain anymore. ]

it looks like you’ve been offered some. [ which is a quiet sort of relief— she would have offered, if no one else had. but. ]

i’m not great with kids.

[ she’d led a group of delinquents, but that had been with help. she had considered them kids but these actually fit the bill. kids who sit on laps, probably grab onto things they shouldn’t, like hair and tug. ]

I was the maid and matron to an orphanage back in London to the same amount of children.

[ Alice adds while rubbing her head- ]

Their laundry, food, and tending to them in many other ways.

I see. That would explain why you seem be good with children. [ Through the video feed, Fai attempts to capture the young child's attention, giving her a little wave. His smile softens as he looks at the other children, indicating that he's someone quite fond of kids. ]

But it mustn't be easy at all, running an orphanage ...
