should a significant number of them perish, it will be far easier to complete our secondary mission of stopping the mining efforts

it is not that i see ALISTAIR and root as one and the same
but i will do whatever is necessary to fulfill ALISTAIR's missions all the same, in order to be returned to konoha eventually
should that involve killing the qorral or the deemers or others in future missions, so be it

i will not interfere with others' rescue efforts, though
if there is no reason to protect the qorral, there is even less to instigate conflict amongst audentes

[Jin's individuality, his freedom to choose, is everything to him. Sai's way of thinking is so at odds with that, that it's difficult for Jin to truly empathize as much as he's attempting to-- at least not yet.]

And what, go back to this root stuff? Just to take and fill your orders like a machine?

[Technically, he wouldn't be going back to Root right away, considering he got permission to stay with Team Kakashi a bit longer, but that's not entirely the point right now. Especially since he needs to be very clear about one thing:]

i will not forsake my village, no matter what
i do not care what i have to do to return
or what anyone else thinks about it
we might be a team, but none of you is of konoha
regardless of anything else, it will always be my highest priority
