It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

That's true. Maps and charts are essential when traveling broad expanses of terrain, especially when it starts to look the same. That should be pretty simple to pick up.

When I was new, I was told about a time recruits were tested and their resources were very limited. It got me thinking that I wouldn't want to be caught off-guard if we were without supplies for any reason.

Oh. Oh, I didn't know there was a time like that. What are you doing for water? Are you packing extra? Do you have a filter? Like the kind you can use on water that's from rivers or ponds and it makes it okay to drink and not dangerous?

I pack extra bottled water and know some methods for making what we come across safe to drink. It's pretty straightforward, if you'd like to learn something like that too.

You can also hit up King, although I think he uses some sort of magic.

My way doesn't involve magic, so I can show you what I know. Admittedly, I'm still getting used to the spells I'm able to use now; it feels surreal at times.

None of them involve water though.

I met someone on the team who can bend water. Earth and air and fire too. People are really amazing.

I think a couple of hours should be more than enough to go over the steps. And I'm happy to help anytime. That's what friends and teammates are for, right?
