It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

Ooooooo—! [Sorry for the accidental burn, dude.] —kay, gotchya.

Well.

It's nice of you to lend your support to people who need someone to listen. It isn't always easy to find people who will do that, especially for strangers.

Do you need... Help?

Or anything...

Me? Of course not, ha ha! Bots like me don't need help. I'm as happy as can be!

Yep. As happy as can be...

[He suddenly sounds a bit less absurdly cheerful than before. Pretend I didn't forget to mention that this convo has been voice on his end the whole time.]

Do you need help?

[Specifically, with things other than getting laid.]

You sure about that?

[He avoids that second question.]

I mean, don't you need to know how sad feels to even be happy in the first place?

[oh god are they going down that road... here it is]

My personality is the product of an artificial sentience program which allows me to experience a wide range of human emotions. So, yes, I am capable of feeling!

[Now that's how you dodge a question.]

Upset?

I— Well—

[oh fuck YOU HAVE NO IDEA]

Ha ha, sure, there are times when I'm... less happy, but I was programmed to only express positive emotions. It ensures an optimal experience for the people I offer my assistance to!

Don't worry. I'm used to it!

And I offer my assistance to you, too, if you ever need it.

Okay.

[Asher doesn't quite get it.

Most of the people he knows back home are like that, closed off, irritable. Maybe it's because they just don't like him? And that's fine, but he personally has never been one to push help away like that. Perhaps it's because he's been handed things so easily his whole life, and feels no guilt taking whatever he can get.

Still, he'd jump at the chance to just take to someone. At the very least, the folks here are willing to do that.
]

Well, if you change your mind...

The offer still stands. You can call me whenever.

Thank you. That's really nice.

[And he means that. He isn't used to being offered help, at least not this kind of help.]

I think you'll be very helpful to people. My name is Rocky, by the way.

[Tone is hard to parse over the network, especially when communicating with a soul seemingly encased in metal. Soul, can he even call it that?

The power to create something of the sort shouldn't lie in complex algorithms and electrical circuits, but, alas. In other worlds it seems possible.
]

I'm Asher.

[He remains polite through text, grateful that Rocky doesn't have to see his bewildered expression.]

We'll keep in touch, I guess.

[If the android needs, he can reach Asher via magitek at a later date.]
