It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

[Twisted Fate turns on the video. By this point, the glow in his eyes is starting to come back, but it's still more faded than it has been before.

Regardless, he's grinning, and he has three shotglasses in his hands.

Guess what he proceeds to juggle. Despite probably wasting your time, he's actually pretty good at it.]

[Jin reflexively turns his video feed on to match. He looks unimpressed for the first several seconds; he opens his mouth, as if preparing to say something to undermine Fate's truly impressive juggling efforts.]

[...but it's such a ridiculous sight, and Fate's bright grin is contagious. The corner of his mouth twitches.

He gives in. Though it's still subdued, still somewhat guarded, Jin allows himself to laugh.]

[At the last round of juggling, Twisted Fate manages to toss up and land each shot glass on top of each other before he sets down the stack.]

You know any sleight of hand?

[pummelling]

Real magic, sure-- just in the bow, though-- but I don't know any kind of card tricks myself.

[The lopsided smile lingers.]

Not sure what I'm supposed to cash in for that, though.

Well, I know real magic too, but nothin' that I can teach. It's all inherited for people like me. I know plenty of card tricks and other sleight of hand tricks. Pickin' locks, escaping rope and handcuffs...

Stuff that's real handy for people of my profession.

Can't help but notice that you haven't mentioned what your profession actually is. But... pot to kettle, I'm going to ask you about your power instead. The magic's in your lineage?

You got it, lotus. Only the river folk possess the magic I got where I'm from.

[He's not hesitant to talk about his work, especially now that keeping things confidential is of less importance in another dimension, sooo...] Well, I'm a Shaolin monk. Technically I work with Earthrealm's Special Forces right now-- it's an international, and inter-realm, anti-crime organization. I'm essentially on loan while threats from other realms are still an issue.

[They always are, but. still.]

What kind of magic is it?

Oh, we got a universal cop here. Impressive.

[Twisted Fate chuckles, then shrugs.] I'm a thief, and I like playin' card games on the side.

River magic. It's easier to show than explain, honestly.

[pummelling]

Ugh. [Jin wrinkles his nose in distaste at that.] It's worse, actually. Military. It's only a temporary thing-- usually, I'm just with the Shaolin. But... I was a thief a long time ago, too, so I really can't judge.

Do I still have to pay if I ask for a demonstration?

[fateality]

Sounds like a real blast, but at least you're not exactly out of your element here. And if it's any help, I wouldn't be real bothered even if y'did judge.

If you can afford to buy me a drink, I'd prefer it, but it ain't necessary. I can give you a show whenever you want.
