It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

I think it would be scary at first. But our memories aren't only ours most the time. They're something we share with each other. Having an ability that lets you see what I remember might even help me remember things that I don't see as clearly anymore. So I think in the end it would be pretty cool. Maybe hard sometimes, but not scary. Not from you!

I trust that you wouldn't. I admit that if you did, I wouldn't know. Then it... that's scary.

But it's something you'd be living with, not me, wouldn't it? I'd be living it. I wouldn't know. It wouldn't be the first time that something I knew once wasn't where I could see it anymore. You'd have to remember what you'd done. So... the person who would have the heavier burden isn't me.

Please don't burden yourself like that, Shuyi-san.

[ It takes her a while to stop laughing and send a reply. ]

Now I seem to somehow owe you cake.

The cake seems more like a treat you can owe yourself... though have you seen the little cakes they make at the bakery? They're not fancy, but they're really cute!

[ Laughter is good. So are these cakes. It's nice to get to be lighthearted even when there's so much to be serious about around here! ]

I have not, but now I must.

[ This is the lightest her heart has felt in . . . a long time. Though part of it comes from the fact that even being here, on this planet, means heading somewhere better than she was before. Cake is the cherry on top. ]

One of the smallest ones. I didn't want to spend too much. Oh! If we both use our money, we can buy a bigger one to share!

[ And may it be a most delicious cherry. Chihiro simply likes that of all the heavy things, and the frightening ones, and the difficult ones, there is still time for cake and jokes and friends. ]

Who is feeling the most sad, or upset?

Who is in most need of cake? What if they deserve to feel upset for what they did?

Should I be the one determining if they do or don't deserve to feel how they feel about the things they've done?

I don't really feel like that has much to do with the cake anymore.
