It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.
If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.
In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.
Let's see how we can help each other improve.

Oh, yes, of course! Where should I begin... I suppose maybe, with the Iris? Or with our goals? Or do you have a question in particular?

[ genji is one of the nicest people she's spoken to, here... would he really not make friends easily? ]
He said you all are trying to change the world through example. How exactly does that work? I can't help but feel that is a difficult goal to have.

It is difficult. And it is becoming... increasingly, more difficult, admittedly. In my world, there was a war between humankind and omnickind. It ended in a truce, but in many places, it is as if the war never ended. My kind are still not looked upon very highly. We are thought of as being without our own thoughts, feelings, or souls. The Shambali, an organization of omnic monks, have dedicated themselves to the spread of peace and our belief that omnic and human are equal in the Iris. I was once a member of their group.

[ honestly, though — she's not one to push for answers, not in things like this... if Genji ever seems like he needs a listening ear, she's there. but all that matters now is that he is making friends; the past is the past.
it is a lot to take in, the history Zenyatta lays out, and though she isn't too clear on what "omnic" exactly means — ]
How can they think that? Whatever you are, however different from humans... that doesn't mean you're not individuals just as important and equal to them!!
I'm sorry, I wish everyone could see that... my captain punched one of the Celestial Dragons, the nobles who can do whatever they want where I come from, simply because he was disrespecting his friends. He was trying to buy a mermaid... even though mermen and fishmen are stronger than humans, many people still consider them inferior and try to capture them to sell on the black market. It seems everywhere there are those who think those different from them are not their equals.

I would not say it is a thought that is completely irrational to have. For humans, they have always developed tools to help them further their development and research. Vehicles, ships, computers- all of these are for the benefit of humankind. It is understandable to expect control over something you create.
But we are not just tools or machines. The misunderstanding started there. And grew worse, very rapidly. Although the war is over, the things you describe also occur to omnics in my world.
Your captain sounds like a good person. To stand up for another person who is unable to is an admirable trait.

I'm sorry you have to endure something like that... hopefully your efforts will bear fruit and there will truly be peace with Omnics and humans. Genji said you still welcome those who need help... that is an admirable trait, too, to be able to look at the world that shuns you and still want to help.
Mm, my captain is the best person you will meet. But you sound like a good person, too!
no subject
Well, I will allow you to make your own judgement on that. But I would like to meet your captain, if he is here?
no subject
I look forward to making it, in that case.
Mm, he is! Just look for someone wearing a Straw Hat and yelling loudly about meat, you'll find him. Actually... once this mission is over, if everything goes alright, we're planning to hold a party! To celebrate everyone who has joined our crew. You should come!
