It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.

If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.

In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.

Let's see how we can help each other improve.

[ooc: Please feel free to thread-hop/jack here, that's what this is for!]

okay, that's NOT cool

i get the whole "everything has a price" thing, but bleeding? yeaaah, not fun, i'd pick and choose my battles with a drawback like that too

But would you not agree that the price is fair?

i agree that there has to be some kind of price, that's it

For any kind of power?

well... just having a power is a price in and of itself, isn't it? like, say you get super speed and super strength. but with that, you have to deal with bounty hunters who go after people with superpowers and other superpowered people trying to do bad things and you have to stop them because no one else can.

isn't that a price, too?
gunah: (-- / why)

[ Like the bounty hunters kidnapping her people's children to drain them of their precious blood? She thinks one must only pay a price for choices one has made, like her turning her blood into a weapon, but not for being born a certain way. ]

Yes, but those prices are not fair. It shouldn't be so.

[ like everything Scott's been through since being bit. like everything the Hales went through... all of it.

is it fair? hell no. but he hasn't been operating on the principle that anything in life is fair for a long time, now.
]

yeah, well, welcome to life.

i know it shouldn't be like that. no one should hunt you or go after you just because you have powers or you're special or... anything. but it happens. it keeps happening. i'm not saying it's fair, i'm just saying it happens like that. power's a price in itself.
gunah: (* / uhmmm)

[ He's right, of course, but Shuyi's never been one to accept things so easily, so intent on making the world into what it could be rather than what it is. For better or for worse. ]

That price is no absolute. It can be changed, and should be.

You seem to speak from experience.

[personal profile] figureitout 2016-12-08 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
... i hope you're right.

[ he's not so sure, but it's a nice thought to have, anyway. ]

sort of. i don't have any, uh, powers or stuff, but my best friend has. and it hasn't exactly been easy for him.
