Well, I gotta say, despite all of the little disasters peppering around here, it ain't all bad.
If I got my timing right, 'bout this time of year, I'd have just missed the Harrowing. Don't reckon any of you really know what it is, but it's a little year time tradition where I'm from -- and I'm all too happy to miss out on it.
[He chuckles to himself:] Shame about Snow Day, though, I suppose.
In any case. Thinkin' about it, I was a little curious if any of you were missin' out on some... festivities back home? Or did you dodge a bullet?
Since we have such a colorful bunch here, didn't figure it hurt to ask.

[the first sounds kind of sketcho but the second sounds real cool, ngl.....do they all make huge snowmen or what]

The Harrowing comes in two flavors: in most of Runeterra, my world, it's a harvest celebration. Kids put on spooky costumes based on legends, there are festivals, so on. Where I spent most of my life, the Harrowing means somthin' a bit different. The Black Mist of the Shadow Isles approaches, and those who inhabit the Shadow Isles come to slaughter those who live in Bilgewater.
Happy Harrowing. [Despite the grim explanation, Twisted Fate chuckles.]
Snow Day is much more cheery. More localized for folks in the North where I'm from. Gift giving and so on. Good will towards men, charitable souls. [Almost the best time of year for suckers.]

the killing part.....not so much. aang gulps, a little unnerved.]
Why do they have to kill everyone? Can't they just....I dunno, shake their hands or something and then leave?
[that seems so much friendlier.]

I've heard rumors and legends, of course. No tellin' if it's all true.

You mean you were there? And you didn't stop them?

[Sakura isn't too disappointed though. Japan itself has other holidays they celebrate and all instead.]

The Harrowing's pretty popular in most of Runeterra. Probably not in Shurima or Ionia, but otherwise just 'bout everyone likes an excuse to put on a costume and be ridiculous.

[Because it sounds. Close enough?]

Sure. That's probably it.

[The word itself is one that Meallan's heard before, but always secondhand and always with a pang of dread of where it came from, what it represented to him growing up with his clan. It's harder to shake the feeling too with how Twisted Fate speaks of it, as though he's glad not to be there.]
Is it as bad as it sounds?
no subject
Just about, yeah. Undead and such comin' in, taking hundreds of lives -- real exciting time to be in Bilgewater. Rest of Runeterra is fine, though.
no subject
But that doesn't sound like much fun for anyone there. Isn't there some way to stop them from rising, especially if it's linked to some yearly effect.
no subject
If there was a way, I'd probably have expected the followers of the Mother Serpent to have figured out somethin'. But if any of the legends 'bout the Shadow Isles are true, it's gonna be awhile until that's sorted.
...You up for a bit of company? [No one can say he didn't try.]

You wanna know about Snow Day?

[IT'S NOT LIKE HE ALMOST DIED!!]
I do! I love the snow!!
no subject
[He has SUSPICIONS.]
Well, I should'a figured. Snow Day's got plenty of it, in most regions. But it's really about celebrating with your loved ones. Gifts and consideration an' such.

[He doesn't celebrate Christmas too much, and hasn't done Halloween properly since he was a kid, anyway.]
I'm down for some cultural education, though, so lay it on me. What happens on the Harrowing?
audio;
The Harrowing's easygoing in most of the world. People dress up in spooky costumes, celebrate their harvests, have festivals. Real nice time.
Now, in Bigewater, where I'm from, it means that the black mists reach out from the Shadow Isles. The undead come from there, slaughterin' the living in Bilgewater for a week straight. It's a fight for survival. Somethin' I'm real glad to have missed out on.
audio;
...Not the undead part. Don't tell me they crawl out of the depths every year?
