[Though the subject matter behind his reasoning for addressing the networks was far different now than the first time he had the previous month, his even, dispassionate tone of voice is exactly the same.]

I've come to realize that the time in which we will be returning back to Oska is very close to—if not exactly on—the winter solstice. [He's used to a duo of sing-songy fae stopping by his house and giving him forewarning. He actually had to use a calendar this time.] Though I doubt all worlds follow the same laws and traditions, it is a day of great importance in my own. There are several rituals I am... curious if anyone would wish to help me carry out, to give us auspicious passage through the winter months.

As I don't think the old gods of winter have any particular sway over these distant realms, I am fairly confident nothing will be dangerous.

Indeed.

Those that I have personally come into contact with are the Horned God and his Dark Lady. They are extremely powerful and... capricious entities. The world becomes their domain in the months of winter, and it is best to do what you can to appease them.

[slapfight]

[okay. okay, that makes sense, if you think about it in gem terms. all this time, she believed humans (or whatever Elias is) didn't operate under the same rule as gems do, but maybe they do. maybe these "gods" are like their version of the Diamonds, and appeasing them is how they're allowed to keep running around, doing whatever they want.

if that's the case, then...] Um. Just one thing. What happens if they're... not appeased? Do they just indiscriminately kill their own subjects?

[It's not a bad comparison. It's just that most humans were unaware of magical creatures like fae and gods—and, in return, they were uninterested in humans who did not possess the magical gift they found so precious.

For mages, however... Certain things were expected.]

It is hard to say. They are very unpredictable.

I have heard tales of them simply afflicting people with misfortune or simple malaise, though nothing too long-lasting or impactful. But I have also heard that they might claim a life or livelihood. Winter is often associated with death, after all—it is part of their domain.

[slapfight]

[she makes an anxious noise.] I see... Well, I would hate for them to be offended because I'm not familiar with these customs. [this is the part where, if she had her tablet, she'd be frantically googling things.]

Hmm. I'm not sure you would be a concern of theirs.

Entities like gods and fae are those of magic, and they are only really concerned with mortals who hold a magical gift. It is from those that they expect the respect these traditions impart.

[After a moment's pause, with a tone he puts effort into making sound a little lighter.] It wouldn't hurt to learn a few things, though. They are really quite simple.

[slapfight]

[desperately:] I can learn!

[er...] You know... Heh. Just in case it becomes an issue.

Of course. I'd be more than willing to teach, should you be interested.

[At first he had thought the process vexing, but he had rather gotten used to teaching in the months he had been instructing Chise in the art of magic. He isn't fond on dwelling on this subject for too long, though—he begins to get that odd twisting sensation in his chest, the distinct and sharp awareness of someone's absence.]
