[ Really, she had hoped to get her thoughts out about this sooner, but there are things she wants to Address and get people to think about now that it seems like a new year is upon them. It makes sense after the Christmas/Yule w/e celebrations that had taken place. For any that may know her though, she definitely seems very upbeat today. ]

Good day, everyone. [ It's the first time she's actually addressed the magitek like this though, which is why she tries to keep as formal as possible from the get go. ] My name is Sonia Nevermind, some of you may know me, others may not -- if that is the case, it is a pleasure to meet you now.

I was wondering... is it common for people of your worlds to make New Years Resolutions? This is where you make promises or goals for yourself for the new year.

For me, this year I hope to get stronger, so I may protect those I care about. I wish to learn more about medicine, to ensure that those with healing skills are not tiring themselves out. [ She's ticking these off with her fingers as she goes. ] I wish... to be more honest, about past instances that were beyond my control... but I feel are important to share with friends. I wish to spend more time with others, and learn more about the different cultures and languages we have within our team. If you were to consider this now... what would you choose?

Also, as we have been in good spirits recently, I also hoped we may try to get to know one another better with a game? There is one called "2 truths 1 lie", I believe, where we share two pieces of information that are "real" along with one piece of information that is a lie. As I understand, this is a hella good game to bond. For example: "I can speak 30 languages." "I have got a sister." "I can pilot a helicopter." Which one is incorrect?

[but he's lying now. he's gotten his satisfaction that he can lie to sonia (why does he want to lie to young* girls??) he can cheat. kaz has hardly ever played games fairly.

[ She only blinks in response, actually surprised but trying to not let it show. Maybe she had presumed too much, but she quietly stores it away rather than asks about it. Instead, she offers a smile instead. ]

I see, perhaps next time I will do better.

[ Well maybe he can finally learn, because she's about to make things more complicated. ]

[ Yes, there are 3 ages there. ]

[damn she goes right for the big guns.]

The lie is that you're sixteen.

[he assumes something like this: she is eighteen but turned nineteen since joining the team or some other weird ~timeline~ shenanigan. he doesn't make the jump from sixteen to nineteen because that seems far too great.]

[ If you think this is big guns you've got another thing coming homie... ]

[ Her lips twitch slightly, waiting for another response to come after, yet not giving another hint either. ]

[look his world is full of murder babies but not crazy murder shenanigans ok

but she really does have him here. he doesn't have context for how this could work. he thinks about it, quiet for a moment. trying to decide, not through logical leaps but playing off her expression to decide which one he thinks is mostly like]

Eighteen, then.

[if only because that slight smile means she thinks he'll never guess, means is the strangest answer, means no one would make that leap of logic, so he'll just have to take the plunge.]

[ Why can't it be both-- but either way, it's actually more of a default for her face. A "blank" state, so to speak, so he's reading into it more than necessary. A princess is supposed to remain distant, yet appear friendly. That is how she's described it before, and it is something that is true to her even now.

Her smile does warm up though when he says that, eyes shutting. ]

Correct. [ Though she doesn't say why either. Doesn't explain that it's mostly because for those 3 years in the middle she was not herself. ]

[she doesn't say why and kaz doesn't ask. not yet, anyway. it's not important yet and maybe won't ever be. but just like she files away information about him, he does the same about her. it's give and take.]

I do not see why not, do you?

[ She moves her hand briefly, tucking the strand at the side behind her ear. ]

Alright.

[hmmm three more. he considers for a moment and then starts to talk. (I'm so sorry)]

I let a man get shot for betraying me, I killed a rival barrel boss in jail, I've shoved a wooden toy down a boy's throat.

[assent]

[ It's almost like how she dealt with Urahara's lists before, her fingers curling up on her lap, unseen to Kaz through this magitek device they have. Her face remains still, eyes flickering up as it looks like she's thinking.

The real question here is the stories behind each of these instances. The first, she believes as someone betraying you... they probably might have deserved it, at least to the person being betrayed. The second? Had he broken into the jail to do this? She can't imagine him being caught and in there himself... he handles himself way better than Jesper does (sorry Jesper...) and the third...


Why would anyone do that? Only that question isn't exactly fair after the things she's done either. Maybe part of her (like it had with Urahara) wants to believe she isn't the only one who has gone Too Far. ]

[kaz smiles a little bit. he doesn't cheat this time. he didn't have to prove anything, this time. this list served a different purpose. he has definitely gone Too Far but he'd never see it that way, he'd only think of it as necessity. and sometimes necessity also includes reminding people exactly who you are and what youre capable of.]

That's correct.

[assent]

[ He raised the stakes more than she had been prepared for initially, especially if certain people actually read/listen to any of this but... she doesn't want to back out of this either. Especially not after saying how important it is to her that they share these things. She doesn't fear him for anything he's saying now though, if anything... it is only the relief that she isn't as alone. ]

I am well versed in the art of torture. When I participated in a murder game, I killed one of my classmates. One of my underclassmen is a famous serial killer that I admire.

[ It's very close for her slipping up too much now, but she has already told one person about the first, and the last isn't such a bad thing in that she's openly admitted to having a fascination with serial killers as well. One more push. ]

[there is a lot of information in what she says. kaz can't help but wonder if she's telling him these things just for posturing's sake. trying to prove she's got a place at the big kid's table. kaz would argue he doesn't murder for fun (just profit) or without reason. that being a serial killer was a completely different sort of thing than the violence that he committed.

would he go so far as to say he was justified in all of his actions? does he need justification as a comfort, or is he content to live without it? somedays he wonders. somedays he knows better than to think about it.]

[ A lot, but just because you have the knowledge does not necessarily mean you've used it either. She didn't say she had tortured someone--just that she knows what exists for it, and what can be done. Her admiring who she later found out to be an underclassman as well doesn't exactly say as much as he thinks it does either. Haise already knows she reads about serial killers for fun, so... ]

That is not how one plays this game, you are aware?

[ This time, there's no change in her expression -- keeping it blank. ]

[oh. right. that game. he had forgotten they were still playing two truths and a lie and he'd taken it at face value. at least the murder game thing - but it must be a truth, with her answer. he's surprised that he hadn't followed correctly, surprised at himself for slipping up, enough so that he doesn't press.]

[ Must it? The irony is that she never killed a classmate during that game -- she doesn't even remember all the details of it. Her standing here is a proof of her survival, all of those that died are left comatose in a pod back on Jabberwock Island, paying for their choices in a virtual world. She doesn't seem to move at all for a moment, then her eyes close slowly as she smiles at him. ]

While I did participate in a murder game, I did not kill any of my classmates. That one was the lie.

[ Though she had considered taking the weapons given to them to go against the organisation that put them there... so "noble" might not be correct either. ]

My friends mean a lot to me, however. That is why I offered this game to begin with.

I think so. I have met others who speak other languages, and have learned some interesting things.

"Other languages," other than "English"?

[that's the one people seem to mention the most. he wouldve assumed most people spoke different languages and they were all translated together, but maybe english really is the predominate language around here.]
