[ Koltira's coming to you live from the latest addition to Oska: a blacksmith's forge, newly constructed on the castle grounds. He's standing over the anvil, hammer in hand, his implacable expression as unreadable as ever. His saronite breastplate is on the anvil, repaired back to its dark and ominously gleaming glory. The hearth behind him blazes with hungry fire, and the stone walls--already black with soot--are hung with various tools for cutting, shaping, and otherwise manipulating metal.
He lifts the hammer--a tremendous, black thing that looks like it could easily smash someone's head in--such that its oak handle rests against his bare shoulder. He's wearing only a pair of rough black trousers, slung loose on his hips; his pale hair is tied back into a ponytail. The glowing blue tattoos across his chest and forearms cast shadows in the dim forge light, evoking the silhouettes of blades over the cream-colored bricks.
Friendly and innocuous, as usual. ]
I asked Lloyd for a forge, and my petition was granted.
[ He taps the breastplate with his free hand. ]
I needed to repair my armor after answering Achilles's challenge.
[ Koltira speaks tonelessly, as though referring to ancient history, though the fight weighs on him still. He pauses for just a second, his long ears twitching, and then he moves on. ]
I have materials enough for other repairs, should you require them. If you'd like a weapon crafted, I can accommodate a few requests on that score as well.
[ He bows his head slightly. ]
You need only ask.

[ He frowns slightly, because 'asking for a friend' is a shady phrase no matter where you're from. ]
What does it concern you?

[ Interesting... He pauses, mulling it over. ]
Some people back in my world can manipulate metals. Just reminded me of that, is all.
[ Jesper, you're so obvious. ]

[ He gestures to his breastplate--bluish black, adorned with glowing skulls. If Jesper examines it too closely and for too long, the metal seems to pulse and throb, as though alive. ]
My armor was crafted from it, but it is not meant for the living.
[ Koltira is no detective, but he's been around a while. Even he can spot practiced nonchalance when he sees it. ]
Our shaman work with the earth, but rarely have I seen their power extend to metals. Not that any of them would even approach something like saronite, regardless.

[ Hell, anything's possible with parem... Then again, Koltira is apparently a zombie so there's that too. Jesper's learned that things don't always work the way he expects. ]
Yeah, we have people called Fabrikators who can work metals and glass or that kind of thing. They usually make armor or weapons, but it has to be non-living matter as far as I know.
wow i sure did lose this notif
[ By slaves who go insane during the process, but that's just how these things go. ]
But that is a useful skill, nevertheless. I am only able to work the old-fashioned way--but my ice magic sometimes helps with rapid cooling.
thanks dw
[ Like being able to manipulate metal by waving your hands is less weird. ]
Really skilled fabrikators can make glass that never breaks or line metal into cloth and that kind of thing. They break it down on a molecular level so you get some really incredible stuff. It's how my pistols were made.

Quite impressive. But how does it relate to metal I have here and now? Did any of your people come to us with this gift?
no subject
Oh, uh, no. Nothing, really. Just reminded me of that, that's all.
[ Sure....... ]

[ Seems suspicious, guy. ]
Well, if you'd like to take a look, the forge is open to you.
no subject
Yeah, maybe I will! Should be cool to see anyway.

I'll be here.
[ WATCHIN'. ]
