[The magitek's pulled back far enough to feature not one, but two members of Audentes... or, rather, one of them striving vainly to nudge his teammate out of the feed. It's the tail end of the struggle, though, and Kung Jin is fighting a losing battle. It takes half a second for Asher Millstone to shove his way into view, taking up half of the screen and speaking up before Jin can truly get a word in.

The law student looks more excited than ever when he starts speaking, and even lifts his arms above his head in a “raise the roof” sort of gesture.
]

It’s time to get wiggity wiggity whack, yo!

Don't. [He nearly slaps a hand over his friend's mouth, but reconsiders, elbowing him back instead.] So, Audentes. Since we're almost all set to leave on our next assignment, it's come to our attention that not everyone here is from a world that people like Asher or I consider "modern day".

Whoa, you? Wait a minute. Last I checked, there was nothing normal about you, man. People in your world, like, rip dudes’ spines out through their mouths and crap!

[After he says this, Asher immediately turns from Jin back to the camera, and waves his hands emphatically in its general direction.]

Don’t try that.

[Jin casts a dubious glance at Asher and moves right along in spite of all the interruptions.]

Even if you look the part, you’ve still got to play the part, too. If you're looking for any advice or tips to blend in properly on-planet, we’re pretty much experts-- so let us know if you need a hand.

[The paler of the two pops up right behind him, leaning on the other’s shoulder.]

That’s right, baby! We’ll teach you how to be 90s.

Yes. I've figured it was a dialect of sorts, native to his home.

Though it may be prudent to learn it now, for our next mission... [ Sry Asher ]

Dialect... That does make sense. And I agree, there isn't much time before we're to be deployed. [ And yet here they are, still chatting in old lady formal-speak...

But okay how about this, ]
It's my understanding that females of the nineties [ and beyond ] often use the word 'like' in their sentences, for no apparent reason. Were you aware of this...? [ Aqua certainly was not... She hasn't really talked to anyone within ALASTAIR with a valley-girl accent, either... ]

[ Old lady formal speak is the way 2 go though, lbr ]

... Like? [ ?????????????? ] I was not, no.

Are they... inclined to express their fondness for something? Or perhaps they simply like comparisons...

I... don't really know if it's either, to be honest. Some examples I've heard—

[ she clears her throat, pausing to remember whatever lines it was from whatever popular series was on Tekflex, ]

'That was like, totally amazing!'

Or,

'Do you ever, like, just wanna eat an entire bag of marshmallows.'

......?

... Oh! I believe I've heard of something similar, briefly. I hadn't realized...

It's similar to, er, "So you're saying like, she was totally hitting on him?" [ Another pause, and then: ]

I don't entirely understand what "hitting on" means, but the usage seems to be similar.

[ oh, she knows that one!! ]

To 'hit on' means to make advances at someone you're interested in. Usually quite heavy-handedly, I think...

For example, did anyone 'hit on' you during the winter ball?

—You don't have to actually answer that, of course. [ it's just an example!!! ]

... Oh.

[ What a weird way to say that?? Though she does take the time to note the term ( probably to use it to describe Inigo, at some point ).

But anyway ( no one "hit on" her during the winterball, so the answer wouldn't have been very exciting )— ]

You seem to have familiarized yourself with a number of these terms, Aqua.

Some of them I've heard from home, some of them from the shows I've watched using the magitek... [ To study up ofc, she's not the type to just binge an entire show for leisure, because what the heck is that. ]

But it's very difficult to remember all of them. I still haven't heard of half the things mentioned here.

...It'll be an interesting mission, to say the least.

[ LIVE ZOMBIES ASIDE. At least the both of them have terrible fashion down, one of them being a KH and the other, being Lucina......... ]

... That feels like an understatement, somehow. [ She can't help but agree, though... What are these word choices, why do they exist

But!!!! As typical protagonists they can't get discouraged just because there's a billion definition to the word "sick". ]

I suppose we'll both have a lot to learn.

[ There's a slight lilt to her mouth at that, but she gives a solemn nod. ]

Let's do our best.

[ Together... they will conquer the 90s...!!! ]
