( he may or may not have some dark circles under his eyes when he flicks on his communicator, but otherwise Peter doesn't look any more worse for the wear. he's always tired, isn't he? this isn't something new.

he's more than tired, though, he's on a mission. this mission hits a little too close to home, especially thanks to their last. they're surrounded by more people that can't help themselves, and he doesn't want it to go down the way it did last time. in Perdition's Rest he didn't say anything, but this time? Peter isn't incapable of taking a stance without his mask on, after all, and if he's willing, it generally means he's all the more emotionally invested. there's too much of a chance at helping the infected to stay quiet, or at least, he thinks so. despite the bad news printed all over the information Sonia had shared with him. )

I know things are bad. I have eyes, we all know stuff is getting bad. I just want to make sure we're not losing sight of something that we shouldn't ever lose sight of. ( he rubs at an eye, as if he can rub the weariness away. so far, no luck, but he does keep trying. ) These people are dangerous, and volatile, and scary, but that's just it. They are still people. If you take unnecessary, extreme action against them? You're killing a person. A person we could save, if we all work together to find a cure.

If it comes down to living or dying, then... then that's one thing. ( though he still sounds reluctant, bless his idiot heart. ) If you can immobilize them over killing them, then maybe we could have a shot at saving them. We've got sedatives that can help you get away instead of hurting or killing. We lost so many people in Perdition's Rest, I want to believe we can do better than that here. I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that.

( a sigh. he doesn't know if that lecture is going anywhere. he just feels like he has to say it. ) Has anyone found a place we could keep infected in isolation? Get them off the streets and keep them from hurting themselves or others, and have them available to keep working on the cure. ( that, and while he's at it... ) If you're willing, I need some samples of infected and non-infected blood. I'm trying to put together a test of some sort, I just don't have enough samples yet. It's a stretch, I know, but I think I can do it. ( he does sound fairly confident, for what that is worth... though who knows how capable a teenage boy is, right??? trust his confidence with caution. ) If I can make a test, we can find those carrying the virus, even if they're not symptomatic yet. Any attempts at a cure will work better if we can administer it sooner. Let me know if you're willing.

We have quite a few isolated in the hospital, but the more things progress, it's going to be difficult to contain them all. Not to mention some of the unfortunate things people have found out, connecting back to here.

[he wouldn't blame anyone if they'd rather keep their infected somewhere a little less volatile.] Sonia-san, Sieglinde-san, and I have been at the hospital working on a vaccine, so we can share our information and samples. If nothing else, finding the asymptomatic carriers and warning them will make this easier.

With the numbers already infected, I don't know that the hospital would be big enough anyway. Not to house them safely and away from others that may not yet have the virus.

( it seems like practically an impossible feat, to try and protect and squirrel away something like 4,000 people. he's aware and that doesn't make any of this easier. )

I was thinking something like a... I don't know, storage lockers? But that'd probably be inhumane, or take too long to make humane. Small and quiet, that might work better than all in one place. You're right. Smart.

It'd be harder logistically to run multiple locations if there's only eighty of us, yet... it probably makes more sense, with the scope of this mission.

Supplies for testing, swatch panels, needles... Blood samples are the biggest thing. More than just uninfected, ranges of infection. The higher the concentration of the virus, the more I'll be able to learn from it.

( which is also the most dangerous kind of sample to collect, unfortunately.

as for naming names, that's a harder answer to give. ) Yeah. ( that might be an agreement, it might just be an acknowledgement of the request. hard to say. )

I know it's not the most convenient, but a blood test will be easier to make. More reliable, at that. If I had all the time in the world, I could make a test on oral samples, but I don't. None of us do.

I've got a handful of infected on my hands, so I wouldn't mind knowing where they ought to be taken. From the looks of it, I ought to get in touch with our associates at the hospital, regarding that.

Good question. There's lots of methods and strategies for trying to combat a virus in the body, since a virus can hide in DNA and replicate itself, it's hard to wipe out all of it and that makes it especially hard to cure.

It's hard to say what strategy would work best with Bristol, but I'll try anything I can think of until something sticks.

Those are some pretty nice sentiments. But I think you'll find the logistics of your proposal much more difficult to work out, given the realities of what we're working with.

Regardless, I can provide you with a blood sample (mine) to start with and would be willing to help collect others. Working toward some sort of medical solution is very practical.
