[Fiona is a little out of breath, like she just hustled very quickly away from somewhere. Which she did, but that's neither here nor there. The background behind her is some innocuous wood panelling; she's in a house.]

Okay. So. Crunch time. Things are getting nuts out there, if you didn't notice. We are gonna wind up super screwed if we don't hop to figuring out what the hell to do.

[She holds up a vial. It has some alien writing on it, as well as a familiar symbol on the label.]

We found this inside the hospital. A shit-ton of them, actually. So who wants to find out what Zymandis asshole is responsible for this mess and beat an antidote out of them?

Feeling out the extent of Zymandis' presence seems like the first order of business. We don't know about their numbers here, much less the level of organization that's gone into their scheme. Not to mention, it's entirely different from their approach in the last world we were dispatched to.

[And since he gets back to this after Urahara has responded to the discussion, he feels a bit more comfortable voicing his own suspicion. It's more difficult to lend credence to a theory when it's just that.

But now, he sees someone else suspects — and may have long suspected — the same thing]

It's entirely possible there's a reason for that inconsistency, though I hope it's not the case.

Yeah. Last time they were out in force... this time it looks like it's only a couple of agents who're behind all this.

[ which, if they're looking to avoid damage done to the members of their organization... is a smart plan. and also rather alarming. ]

A reason like "getting back at us instead of just destroying the Timeline", you mean? [ because, yeah. the same thought's crossed his mind. ]

Or this is diverting us from whatever their numbers are really focused on.

[He'd much rather be wrong, but the lack of force here assures not even token resistance, from what they've seen so far. Why would they set up such a flimsy scheme, knowing what they do of ALASTAIR's squads in terms of size and firepower?

There might well be more of their people here, but we've yet to see much evidence of an organized force.

Wouldn't be surprised if that was it. It feels like no matter what we do, they're, like, one or two steps ahead at all times.

[ it could be that, the fact that this is all just one great diversion... but it could also be something else. the lack of manpower doesn't always mean it's because it can't be spared. ]

Maybe that's because they don't need one. The virus is doing all the work for them.

I've got no doubt they have an advantage over is, if we're the splinter organization.

[Whether it's being head of the curve or simply having far more resources in terms of personnel and more, it's hard to say. But learning some of ALASTAIR's history doesn't leave him secure in thinking it's an even match-up]

Maybe that's the case, but it's a very inefficient method. They've seen some of what we can do, so leaving it at that for us to come in would wither be careless or...

[Or a contrivance, in his view]

Yeah, no kidding. No wonder it feels like we're scrambling to catch up most of the time.

[ it's not a good feeling, but at least it makes sense, now. ]

That depends. I mean, we still don't know what their goal is. If it's to cause maximum trouble with minimal effort... I'd say they're doing a pretty good job. It's been weeks and we're still no closer to a cure, or even a vaccine. I don't know, man... I agree, something doesn't add up, I'm just not sure what that something is yet. I kinda hope you're wrong, to be honest, because if this is them causing a distraction to sap at our resources... then what the hell is it that they're directing their resources on? [ though if it really is that... then, if they make it out of here, they'll probably know. ]

I would rather be wrong in this situation, because of that.

[They just don't have enough answers, right now, and that's the most concerning]

Hopefully we'll get some answers from this doctor before those more inclined toward retribution get impatient.

Let's hope so. I know we've got ways to make him talk, we just gotta find him first.

[ Loki has already offered his truth sword to be used for this — it's a good plan... as long as they find the guy before those calling for his head do. ]

We have to figure out a way to track him, or lure him out.

If we have something of his, Giovanni or I could tell you if we were close. In terms of covering greater distance, though...maybe one of our local shinobi would know a thing or two about that?

I'm not sure of the extent of Elias' abilities but he might also be able to help. At the least, I believe we have options.

Actually... I think I do. Have something of his, I mean. [ he found men's clothes, all in the same size, neatly folded away in the sewers. if those indeed belonged to this probably-fake Percy... it's a chance worth taking. ]

I don't know Elias... but I could ask Sai. I'm pretty sure he'd be able to cover most of the city pretty quickly. [ his whole spy shtick kinda gives that away... their local shinobi indeed. man, what a life. ]

Sai could certainly cover some ground, from what I've seen him do.

[The abilities people have in their team never cease to amaze. He's not sure he'll ever be accustomed to seeing what new and flashy skills people have]

You've got something that belongs to the guy though?

Yeah. I found some shirts in the sewers, all the same size. Men's shirts.

[ and while there's a chance they could be someone else's... it's a slim chance. all signs point to Dr. Percy. ]'

I've still got them, if you think you could use them for tracking him.

It's definitely a possibility. At the least, Giovanni or I should be able to know if he was nearby.

[He doesn't even know just how sharp the other man's nose is, but he's quite sure they're at least comparable in that department]

I couldn't make any promises, but it might help us identify him if he's hanging around.

Then... it's worth a try. Even if you can't promise anything, just the chance that it'll do something's better than nothing.

[ they have to take all the chances they can, right now. ]

Alright, then let's give it a shot. Is there somewhere I could meet you?

[Hopefully, it'll actually yield some sort of results for them. Their team could stand to catch a break]

... how quickly can you get to the university? I live in the dorms, I can meet you outside.

[ it's faintly surprising, how quick he is to agree to this — he's never been one to trust others easily, even people in their team. but here there's no other choice; he may not know Haise that well (or at all, really), but this isn't about trust, this is about getting things done. he can't use the clothes to track down the impostor Dr. Percy — if Haise can, then that's all he needs to know. ]

If you give me about fifteen minutes, I should be able to manage.

[He'd get there faster were it dark out, but he can't capitalize on his more unusual methods of getting around during the day. Still, he's reasonably quick on his feet and out on patrol anyway, so it's not like it would take him a terribly long time]

That works. I'll be the guy with a blue plastic bag and plaid shirt, in case you need further identification.

[ he makes good on his word, too, waiting out there for him to get there! ]

[There's a thump from between one building and another, and soon enough Haise emerges, busily tucking the back of his shirt back into place]

Sorry for the wait...

[Despite being right on his estimated time, he says this]

[ man, how much does he want to ask about what the noise was and why his shirt is out of place?? answer: a lot. but with remarkable self-restraint, he rolls his eyes instead. ]

Dude, you are literally right on time. Like, freakishly so, actually. Anyway — here. [ he holds out a blue bag full of neatly folded shirts. ]

[What a paragon of restraint, and truly unique among their number.

Haise accepts the bag, glancing inside. It's like he's been given some laundry, folded and everything]

Thank you. I'll try to make good use of it.

[ isn't he just!! and completely, unfairly unappreciated for that, of course.

he nods — it's against his ever-curious nature not to ask questions, but he refrains, still. it's enough that Haise's offered his help; he won't push him away by prying. ]

Haise nods, perhaps more to himself than Stiles. The scent on these garments is certainly...distinctive]

Of course. We can't move forward without proper communication, especially in an operation like this.

... I guess so.

[ in a team where so few people seem to really communicate, or when they do it's disagreement all around, it's refreshing, the idea that they can just work together, that it's what they should do. Stiles may not trust many people on the team... but at least he still agrees that communicating and working as a team are important things for success. ]
