Actually as far as magic goes it's pretty believable. It's not promising me the power to take over the world in exchange for my first-born son or whatever. Just the power to light a candle from across the room and stuff like that.

Which would be cool if it's real, because I can't deal with the "no electricity" thing.

That would likely be a lie anyway. What it is offering is believable, though the strength is likely tied to where it is drawing the magic from. I would say something of that nature is real.

Having no electricity isn't that bad.

That would depend on if you have innate magical powers or not. Magic can also be pulled from your location or elsewhere, if you weren't born with any. It could also be given to you, though that is a bit more complicated.

Somehow I think you'll survive just fine.

I have less than zero innate magical ability. My letter to Hogwarts never came, tragically. So yeah. Off to a good start.

Shame, but it's not entirely necessary, it would just make it easier for you. As long as it's drawing the magic from elsewhere, it should be simple to master with enough practice.

Giving you a fake spell sounds like a waste of time on their part, whether you trust them or not. I'd think they have better ways to entertain themselves.
