Many of those stereotypes are also simply ridiculous rumors where I'm from. Such as, garlic does no harm to me, for example. [He says that wryly, finding it amusing.]

To survive, I only need a pint every few weeks. Otherwise, I can store the blood. However, if I'm injured and have not eaten I don't heal as quickly. So having storage can be helpful.

Vampires survive off the blood of humanity. Animal blood can stave our hunger, but it is only that. It must be blood of a sentient person to prolong my life.

It is the nature of vampires. But I would never take more than I need, nor would I take from a person who is unwilling. No matter how they might annoy me.
