To those who haven't seen Papyrus before, well, he's dressed … rather particular, for a skeleton. I realized I had made a grave mistake of not introducing myself to the population at large here! As we are all teammates, I think this would be a great time for all of us to introduce ourselves to each other! So go ahead and say hi to each other here! I will start us off:

HELLO, EVERYONE! My name is THE GREAT PAPYRUS! I am a skeleton, and also a very cool dude. I will answer any questions you have about me being cool and popular, as it is a thing I am very well-versed in being! Nyeh heh heh!!!!

That said! I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday!! It has also come to my attention that not everyone has had the luck I've had in getting a gift from Santa!

[To which he then pulls out his new deep red cape from behind him, a flash of a particular symbol on it.]

But worry not, friends and future-friends!

I will present you all with a gift! It's a meal I've made for many here already, but I made enough for everyone, I think, and so feel free to ask for as much as you want! I can always make more if this isn't enough.

Of course there's a story! Are you sitting down?? It's time for a history lesson!

[ He doesn't really need to be sitting down, but it's the right thing to say! ]

The prophecy says that someday, an angel from the surface will come to the underground, and free all the monsters! That's why the king and queen made it their symbol, and why the royal guard still wears it, because it represents our hopes, our dreams, and our freedom! [ She's in her bedroom as she's posing dramatically. Is the wind blowing? There must be a window open... ] If you're going to wear that symbol, you'd better understand what it means!

But I guess that makes Frisk... the angel!!!!! Oh my God!!!!!!

What? Oh. Oh right, yeah! I guess it does! I guess that makes that old codger wrong, too! Hah! I can't wait to tell him...

[ She's still not entirely confident about Frisk being their human savior; she's still kind of getting used to these weird time shenanigans. But she kind of wants to believe it, so that she doesn't have to worry about the other interpretation of the prophecy coming true. ]

I guess it's pretty cool that the Santa here has good taste, at least.

Of course Santa has good taste. He always knows exactly what it is you want or need, even if you didn't write a letter! Not that I don't write him letters, because I do.

[As soon as the door's open just enough for her to know she's there, Undyne straight up tackles Papyrus, because that's a proper way to greet a friend. ]

Papyrus!! [ He's getting off easy today. She's mostly just bowls into him but then backs off and gets steady on her feet, gesturing with her shark mittens to her shark hat. ] Check me out, I match! Are you jealous yet?!

[ O-Oh, good, no noogies today! Instead he just gets shoved and tackled! Whoopie!!

Papyrus places a hand on his chin, looking over her matching ensemble... ]

... I'M ACTUALLY REALLY JEALOUS, YEAH! But they look really good on you!! I can't believe Santa and I had almost the same idea!

[aspearation]

That's because you and Santa are both so jolly!

[ Or because they're both skeletons who know her really well. ...nah. Santa's totally not a skeleton. ]

Hey! So what's this I heard about you cooking for everyone? What'd you make?!

[ Like she has to ask. ]

Nothing wrong with sticking to the basics, as long as you give me some too!

[ ...though she would at least like to put it off a little. She starts taking off her gloves and hat. It looks like she's decided to hang out for a while? ]

Hey. Since we're here... we should try new recipes! We have all the ingredients we want, and I bet there are tons of cook books!

[ Why not, since she basically half lives at his house in the Underground too. ]

Well!! I did promise a new friend I'd try to make curry for him! But maybe I'll be extra daring and try to learn...

[ She has no idea what curry is but hey, she's willing to find out. It doesn't sound like it could be too bad, by something as arbitrary as a name alone. ]

PERFECT!! THANK YOU!! I was hoping you would, since you're so good at cooking!! Okay, what should my second recipe be? Should we find a cook book first and flip through the pages randomly and then point to a page and do that?? Because that was my plan.

[aspearation]

Hmm... yeah that's a good plan.

[ But she still thinks on it for a minute, staring off into the distance ponderously, before she turns back to Papyrus, pumping her fists in resolution. ]

But I've got a better idea! Take all the pages! We throw 'em up in the air! And then we throw spears at them! Whichever ones get hit are the ones we try!

[ Ignoring that this is not an efficient use of time, serves no more purpose than randomly opening the cook book, and would probablt destroy the pages in the process. But she does get to throw things, so it has merit. ]

Won't we not be able to read the pages if they've been destroyed by a spear?

[Because for some reason, the only time Papyrus ever says anything smart is when he's suggesting something against Undyne's usually even dumber idea.]

Not with that attitude, we won't!

[ But she gives it a brief thought, at least. Never let it be said that she doesn't value his insights in her own weird way. ]

...I guess we couldn't use the pages again though. A random page it is!

We throw the pages into the air, throw the spears at them, and the ones we miss and don't destroy are the ones we learn!

I'm sure I could use my brother's self-sustaining clutter tornados as a source of wind, but I'd rather not go anywhere near those.
