This is Detective Sebastian Castellanos. Most of you, I haven't met yet. But that's part of the problem...
So, let me get this straight. The literal sun is missing, there's half a foot of snow on the ground, but somehow no one's frozen to death yet. We have no real direction, no real idea who we're taking orders from, but we still have time to stop and celebrate the holidays.
Do we even know how many people we have here? According to what I've been told, recruits come and go all the time with no real records being kept.
What the fuck are we even doing here?

Detective...? Oh gosh, that sounds important...
He doesn't sound very happy though, but—!
For good reason, right? He brings up a lot of good points... Oh my gosh, what are we doing?!
Um. Hello, Mr. Castellanos! Ms.?!
Unfortunately, I can't answer most of your questions. I've only just arrived a few weeks ago, myself, and I'm still a little... unsure about a lot of things.
But! The holiday thing seems to be a goblin custom, and since many of us are a bit out of sorts with the goblins and the humans, it made a little bit of sense at the time to do what we could to get back in their good graces?
At least. That's what I think it was for...

... Other than the sun disappearing, I mean.

The jail thing.
[ why, yes, she totally just tried to thought-whisper that to you. ]

... The jail thing?

As for the sun, the explanation would seem to be "magic," but that is entirely dependent on just what you believe of such a concept. It is reality here to some extent, though still, for the sun to be stolen without destroying all life is a bit beyond magic, I would imagine.
So, in short, I must wonder the same thing myself, detective. I am interested in hearing more in time, but for now, the circumstances are quite strange to say the very least.

... But I'm with you, though. Recruiting an army through kidnapping isn't exactly the best way to get a job done. It's almost like they want us to fail.

So I do not know if they want us to fail, necessarily! But it does not seem that they will make things easy. Perhaps we are both a bit paranoid, and it is a mystery to them as well. But who knows but them? That does make things worrying.

It seems like the local flora are at least wilting, but that could be entirely seasonal. Where I'm from, the people not freezing to death would be more of a red flag, though here I think it just means that we're actually taking care of each other. At least we're being good colleagues? Shitty peacekeepers, sure, but then I don't think that that's every one of my associates' true calling. Can't say that surprises me, however, considering how grossly incompetent ALASTAIR is as an employer. Horrible hiring practises aren't shocking from such people. Honestly, we didn't even get an interview before getting the job. Despicable.

The sun can't be missing. We'd be frozen over. It's likelier we just can't see it. So... it seems we're playing hide-and-seek with the sun <丶`∀´> ~(˘▾˘~)

You might be right. So then the question becomes: what the hell could block the sun like this?

β. regional / planet-wide fields
γ. the sun operating in waves our eyes can't see
δ. the population catching a strange eye sickness
ε. I... don't... know

I've been looking into it and can't figure out a thing, really.

Have we been given any sort of clue or direction at all?

There may be some kind of mysterious phenomenon at work here. I did find it strange how we haven't suffered any major damage from the weather itself. We've been here for months and it's as you say everything is fairly disorganized.
How should we keep track of things?
video;
Hold on. You've been here for months? That's news to me.
video;
I haven't met anyone else who's been here longer. When did you arrive?
