[Sai hasn't entirely worked out how to use this whole magic jewelry network thing yet, but the thought-typing is relatively straightforward enough. So:]
is it truly wise to be rescuing the qorral ?
should a significant number of them perish, it will be far easier to complete our secondary mission of stopping the mining efforts

Man you ask some pretty deep questions.
But hey I started this, kind of my duty to answer, huh.
It's. You know. Normal.
To see someone suffering and be compelled to help them out?
That's what being empathetic to others is, right?
So.
The Audentes here are seeing the Qorral suffer, so they're compelled to help them.
[God he is not a shounen protag he doesn't know how to answer these questions articulately.]

what is normal and what is not...i would not be able to tell you
up until recently, i would have told you that saying such things to me was pointless, as i did not truly exist
all i knew was following orders
even now, there is little i understand of any of this
it is not that assistance in and of itself is foreign to me
but we have no association with these people
neither personally nor by any manner of contract, as with ALISTAIR
indeed, they might yet oppose us in the future, as we carry out our mission

It wasn't exactly a wrong way to think, but there's definitely more than one person around who would say it isn't the right way of thinking either. Gaius being one of them. He can understand Sai's point, he just doesn't agree with it.]
Well, technically we are associated with these people so far as the missions themselves go?
We're here because ALASTAIR wants us to solve the issues they're facing here, right?
On the same thread, wouldn't helping the people out instead of letting them die kind of be ... well, even if we don't exactly have a contract with them or anything...
Agh, I don't know. We're really just starting to talk in circles here, aren't we.

the qorral are nomadic
they have no attachment to this planet, and would have left once the resources had run dry
they are incidental to the mission
if they were at least our friends, it would make more sense
in the absence of that...what is the difference between their suffering and that of anything else that lives and dies? i do not understand

All I can figure, bud, is that the way most people are gonna' look at it is like this.
Letting them die without trying to help is the same as killing them yourself.
If you can prevent it, you should.
Even if what you say about them being 'incidental' is true.
no subject
how are the two equivalent?
people do not seem to think that if we were killed protecting them, that they would be at fault for our deaths, which would be the reverse
no subject
...
Alright gonna admit outright, you make a damn brilliant point there.
if there's one thing im not into it's dying for a cause I don't believe in.
But I guess most people would argue that it'd be a death caused by doing the 'right thing' or something along those lines.
...
Yeah there's no point arguing this much, is there.

it is 'right' to risk sacrificing your life and your allies' for the sake of outsiders? that makes little sense to me
[And yet, so many of them feel so strongly about it. There must be a reason.]
you intend to assist them, correct?
why?
