It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.
If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.
In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.
Let's see how we can help each other improve.
[ooc: Please feel free to thread-hop/jack here, that's what this is for!]

I've trained in combat with swords and spears from a young age. I am also in possession of an extra rapier, should anyone find it of use. I'd be more than happy to teach those who would like to learn, or spar with others. [ Casually omits the fact that she fought in a war since ever because her mom is definitely here, yep. ]
Otherwise... I'd like to learn more hand to hand combat. If anyone is familiar with sewing or any other handiwork, I'd be interested in learning that as well.

[Because sparring with him is totally a favor, right? Definitely]
Others may be familiar with different techniques, so you may be able to learn multiple disciplines, as well.
no subject
When would you like to meet? I had normally planned to train in the mornings, but barring any ... sudden interruptions, any time will work.
no subject
You're very kind to say such things.
I've got time in the mornings, since I tend to get an early start. Do you have a preference of location for sparring?
no subject
I only speak the truth.
Somewhere on the outskirts, as to not disturb the townsfolk. I believe there's a forest nearby that would do well. [ Since you know, grass makes for good padding or something. ]
no subject
Sounds good to me. How early do you tend to be up?
no subject
no subject
Yes, I should be able to keep up with that.
As for sewing, I'm sure we can get supplies from the local tailor.

Thank you, Haise.

Besides, I appreciate that you're willing to spar with me. So thank you, Lucina.

lmao this didn't last long at all, did it, jay.]Lucina...? Did I not teach you how to sew when you were younger?
[ WHAT A TERRIBLE MOTHER?! ]
no subject
Er— [ ... ] You... You had, but I did not take to it as well as I should have... [ Literally everyone else is probably better than her at sewing even if her world ended, oops. ]
I remember the basics, but I believe there's more to be learned.
no subject
And — other handiwork too...? [ lucina, surely you can't be that bad.......... at everything...................... ]
I suppose... perhaps it was simply my teaching. I confess, I'm probably not a very good teacher.
[ teachers are supposed to be confident in their skills, right?! ]
no subject
I believe... I took after father quite a bit, including my skills in handiwork. [ By which Lucina means: they have none. ] Whereas Inigo took after you, mother.
He's much more talented than I am at this — you were a fantastic teacher, mother. [ She just sucked at learning 99% of it lbr ]
no subject
still, she attempts a smile, and a lighter tone. for lucina. ]
I see. Perhaps this time will work out better for you, then. Good luck.
no subject
But she can't recall anything ( doesn't realize that technically, Olivia has yet to meet Inigo, or truly meet her "Lucina", either. When she realizes later, she'll probably feel the appropriate guilt ). ] ... Thank you.
no subject
You're welcome, darling.

[ they can also omit the stint as a gladiator in alien prison right? ]
no subject
That would be ... I'd appreciate that greatly. I have some experience... [ ... ] But I couldn't simply learn without giving something in return.

Right now I'm not using any weapons at all, unless it's something I grab in the heat of the moment.
no subject
[ Hm... this takes some thinking, but — ] If you're open to keeping a... more permanent weapon, you could train with my rapier.

It deserves a better owner, who would use it to its full potential. [ She'll never let of the Falchion, having an extra one is excessive anyway. . . ]
