It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.
If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.
In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.
Let's see how we can help each other improve.
[ooc: Please feel free to thread-hop/jack here, that's what this is for!]

NO
your questions are really weird, man. but no, definitely not afraid of you as in personal-you, more afraid of the potential of you being mind-manipulated by some weird alien organization and making you cut all the bonds everyone has to anyone
.... please tell me you have some kind of protection for sudden alien mind attacks
no subject
I can't severe the bonds between two people. Those are both less and more substantial than the kind I mean.
Does that make me less fearsome?
no subject
... okay, i got exactly zero percent of that. so what kind of bonds are we talking about? weird metaphysical bonds between fragments of the universe??
and seriously, i didn't say you're fearsome, please stop repeating that, no one's afraid here
no subject
I mean the bonds that keep a diamond from turning to fragments of coal, not the kind that keeps brothers together. What is metaphysical?
no subject
uh, find a guy called tony stark and ask him about that, he'll be jazzed to answer you
but right, okay, i think i get it. so like... could you turn a block of ice into water or vice versa?
no subject
And yes. I can turn diamond into dust, iron into air.
no subject
... huh, that's actually pretty cool. is there a limit to how much you can do that? like, turn one diamond into dust and you have to recharge, or turn a million diamonds into dust in a second without breaking a sweat?
no subject
But I must bleed to destroy, which is a fair enough price, don't you think? So I would be very tired if you were to bring me a million diamonds, generous as that may be.
no subject
i get the whole "everything has a price" thing, but bleeding? yeaaah, not fun, i'd pick and choose my battles with a drawback like that too

no subject
isn't that a price, too?
no subject
Yes, but those prices are not fair. It shouldn't be so.
no subject
is it fair? hell no. but he hasn't been operating on the principle that anything in life is fair for a long time, now. ]
yeah, well, welcome to life.
i know it shouldn't be like that. no one should hunt you or go after you just because you have powers or you're special or... anything. but it happens. it keeps happening. i'm not saying it's fair, i'm just saying it happens like that. power's a price in itself.
no subject
That price is no absolute. It can be changed, and should be.
You seem to speak from experience.
no subject
[ he's not so sure, but it's a nice thought to have, anyway. ]
sort of. i don't have any, uh, powers or stuff, but my best friend has. and it hasn't exactly been easy for him.
