[ Really, she had hoped to get her thoughts out about this sooner, but there are things she wants to Address and get people to think about now that it seems like a new year is upon them. It makes sense after the Christmas/Yule w/e celebrations that had taken place. For any that may know her though, she definitely seems very upbeat today. ]

Good day, everyone. [ It's the first time she's actually addressed the magitek like this though, which is why she tries to keep as formal as possible from the get go. ] My name is Sonia Nevermind, some of you may know me, others may not -- if that is the case, it is a pleasure to meet you now.

I was wondering... is it common for people of your worlds to make New Years Resolutions? This is where you make promises or goals for yourself for the new year.

For me, this year I hope to get stronger, so I may protect those I care about. I wish to learn more about medicine, to ensure that those with healing skills are not tiring themselves out. [ She's ticking these off with her fingers as she goes. ] I wish... to be more honest, about past instances that were beyond my control... but I feel are important to share with friends. I wish to spend more time with others, and learn more about the different cultures and languages we have within our team. If you were to consider this now... what would you choose?

Also, as we have been in good spirits recently, I also hoped we may try to get to know one another better with a game? There is one called "2 truths 1 lie", I believe, where we share two pieces of information that are "real" along with one piece of information that is a lie. As I understand, this is a hella good game to bond. For example: "I can speak 30 languages." "I have got a sister." "I can pilot a helicopter." Which one is incorrect?

Greetings Sonia. That's a wonderful resolution to keep. A new year means that we have new opportunities.

Soon you'll be able to become stronger. Have faith in yourself.

[ Ah-- She recognises him from their brief meeting back on Perdition's Rest, anyway. Which is something. ] Hello again, I am glad to see you are well. I believe the same, though I think arriving here may have offered that as well even if I have responsibilities back on my own world.

Do you believe in fate at all?

No, I don't. [Yeah, he doesn't believe in fate too strongly though it makes him a little curious. ]

Why do you ask? Is there something on your mind?

Not everyone does... [ She smiles still, not bothered by it at all. ] While I am aware it is said that we were not chosen to come here and that it is merely coincidence, I do not believe in coincidences. If I am here, it means there is something I am able to do here for my country or friends that I was not able to do at home.

[ Her smile twitches slightly. ]

Therefore, if it is so I can become stronger before I return, that is what it shall be. O-of course I do not believe it will happen on its own... I will work very hard to ensure it does happen.

That's fair. One cannot hope to gain without putting forth effort. Fate or not, everyone must take their own steps.

[He doesn't believe too strongly in fate because it would genuinely mean bad things for him. Julius has his own view on the topic and Sonia doesn't appear to mind his answer.]

It may help to turn your goal into a more specific one. How exactly do you plan to accomplish it?

Exactamente! I hope both will align this way, and it will be of use both here and at home.

[ Really though, she knows many people wouldn't put their faith so blindly into something that isn't real, but it's the only way to give herself less fear if something happens. "If I die here, it means it will be of use to my country" rather than struggling and tarnishing her name more. At least that's the thought process that got her through being abducted when she was younger. Fun times being a princess and all that. ]

The goal to protect others? I am able to use a firearm and have an AK-74M with me, Russian made I believe. [ Let's not go into how she knows so much about weaponry ] I wish to learn how to use a blade for when in close quarters, actually.

Do you need help with that? I spent a long time training with weapons back home. I'm a certified combat instructor.

[That's a start. Sonia's determination is admirable.]

Handling firearms is no simple manner.

If you are able to, I would appreciate it. [ Though it's going to take building up some walls to deal with the damage of using a weapon like that. A bullet is swift, and targeted well doesn't cause pain. It isn't usually messy in that way either.

But if you do, is there anything you would like in return?

It's no trouble. [Yeah, he really doesn't mind helping Sonia train her skills for this. It'll save her life someday. ]

In return, do you mind befriending a girl named Reika Kagura? She just arrived here recently.

There aren't a lot of faces she's familiar with yet. I think you two might get along well. What do you say?

Then thank you very much. I appreciate it. [ Hopefully it will -- her or someone else anyway. ]

Though you need not ask me that, I will do so without it being a favour. I believe I spoke with her earlier?

I'm glad then. You two are already acquainted. There's no other favor I require at the moment. [It's okay, he doesn't really need an extra favor now. Julius nods in content.]

[ Well, this was a means to learn about others as well. ]

You're correct. She is my successor. [Reika's kind of young, but reliable. Julius thinks she might be around Sonia's age.]

It might be as you say - how there are no coincidences here. Now it's getting harder to believe all of us just arrived without purpose.

Ah! In that case, it must be nice to have someone here. [ Sonia's 19 so it might be accurate... though it gets complicated. ]

It may be possible, though I think part of me would just like to believe there is more to it as well.

Yes, I am truly glad to have a companion from home in a place like this. [He smiles faintly.]

We don't have to face anything alone however. Do you want to meet with me at the training center?

Does it make it easier? I know that arriving with two of my friend's hamsters made it easier for me.

[ Though she does let out a soft breath of relief. ] I would like to keep responding to others for a while without distractions... will you be free in an hour?

In some ways it has been easier. Of course, I'll wait for as long as you need.

[ Which will take probably another hour or so, but she'll already be at the training centre when she calls again. ]

[When he sees Sonia in the hallway he greets her with a wave. She looks like she's doing well. Julius is carrying a slim novel in his hand. He was reading it while waiting for her.]

Nice to see you again.

[ She offers a wave in return, clasping her hands together afterwards. Between them, he'll see that she's holding onto a small knife, it isn't long enough to have a good reach but it's the best she's got for now. ]

And you as well. What were you reading?

[ She peeks at the book, leaning to maybe try and take a glimpse at the cover. She reads a lot... is all. ]

A book on gardening.

[He shows her the cover. It's got a plant on the front.]

I enjoy reading when it's quiet like this. How about yourself? You seem intrested.

Gardening? [ She leans in a little more to look at it, before straightening up again. ]

I do often read, I was just surprised that is a topic you enjoy. Do you-- Did you garden often? I suppose there are not many places here to do it.

We both enjoy reading. I can always appreciate that. [He nods firmly.]

I garden whenever I can. You're right though. It's hard to find a suitable location for such things.

It is the same for me, too. Though ah! That is true. I have a potted plant in my room, do you think you could offer advice on how to look after it later? I am used to having a gardener.

That I can do. Plants need care just like humans. Neglect them and they may wither.

[They haven't spoken much, but he can tell that Sonia's kind. He'll help with her plants later.] We came here to train today though.
