If you knew her, Gwen is gone. Transferred.
( that seems to be pretty much all he has to say on the matter, but what he isn't saying is clearly obvious on his face. he's upset, eyes red and a little dark, like maybe he hasn't been sleeping well. he hasn't been.
he knows she's not dead, and yet, considering that he might never see her again, it sort of feels like it. how long will he spend mourning Gwen Stacy? forever, probably.
he wishes he could point out Spider-Woman is gone, too. she'd made connections as both. but he can't — those who miss the masked version will have to figure out she's gone on their own. )
If there's anybody that cares, I could use some help with our little dudes. They're close to hatching, I think. It's better if someone is there to meet them when they do. ( he's talking about the squidges, and the observant will notice that's where he is — hanging out near the squidge park. he's been here a lot lately if one can find him at all. if you can't, well, he's probably somewhere on top of the castle where you're not likely to get to him. )

They deserve all the care we can give. [He nods once in affirmation.]
no subject
( watching Beaker grow up had been proof of that. )
no subject
I get what you're trying to say. [He doesn't find it weird at all.]
no subject
( he'd seen proof of it, watching them grow up on Zeta-12. squidges couldn't talk, per se, but they communicated through emotion all the same. )
no subject
Do you have any tips on caring for them?
[Anything would help.]
no subject
When they're born, they need as much attention as any other baby species. They can't find their own food, and they don't know enough about the world to guess at what will be dangerous for them. And they really like to be held.
no subject
You have my thanks. I take it your name is Parker?
[Going by his username and all.]
no subject
( Peter is his first name, and his general preference, but his mood isn't there to correct. Parker works just as wel, half of Midtown Science called him that. )
Are you a new recruit, then? Sorry, I am not the best at keeping up with new arrivals.
no subject
My name's Julius Visconti. Nice to meet you. [He still extends some politeness to a stranger he just met. So far Peter doesn't seem like a bad person.]
no subject
Ahh, and yeah. Same. ( yeah same is sorta lacking in the manners department but Peter is a fairly good kid, just... not at his warmest or kindest at the moment. )
no subject
It's only been a few weeks since I returned. One can never tell when they might get a second mission.
[It sucks but what can you do? At least he's not alone on that front.]
no subject
( not that you can tell he's benefiting when his mood is in the shitter, but seriously, they all benefit from a breath between missions, don't they? )
no subject
They dropped us off at the wrong location, but it wasn't too bad. Ever had that happen before?
[He hopes Peter never went through something similar. Everyone could use a bit of a break by now.]
no subject
( all things considered the little things hard turned out okay. apparently Peter has an affinity with tiny defenseless eggs in need of help. )
no subject
I guess our circumstances must vary depending on the mission. We can't expect them to handle it the same way every time.
[That would be nice...but reality doesn't work that way. ]
no subject
( he doesn't like it, of course, he's just saying it makes sense. )
no subject
ALASTAIR can't be blamed for everything that goes on around here. Some things are due to natural causes, but it's an inconvenience to us either way.
no subject
( he shrugs, though, clearly not in the mood or state to argue his point. food for thought, basically. )
no subject
I hope they're at least aware of their own actions.
[If not then that would be another case of trouble altogether. ]
no subject
( he's got no way of knowing either way, but he's just the right shade of optimistic that he wants to believe they know. )
