If you knew her, Gwen is gone. Transferred.
( that seems to be pretty much all he has to say on the matter, but what he isn't saying is clearly obvious on his face. he's upset, eyes red and a little dark, like maybe he hasn't been sleeping well. he hasn't been.
he knows she's not dead, and yet, considering that he might never see her again, it sort of feels like it. how long will he spend mourning Gwen Stacy? forever, probably.
he wishes he could point out Spider-Woman is gone, too. she'd made connections as both. but he can't — those who miss the masked version will have to figure out she's gone on their own. )
If there's anybody that cares, I could use some help with our little dudes. They're close to hatching, I think. It's better if someone is there to meet them when they do. ( he's talking about the squidges, and the observant will notice that's where he is — hanging out near the squidge park. he's been here a lot lately if one can find him at all. if you can't, well, he's probably somewhere on top of the castle where you're not likely to get to him. )

I can help you if you like.

( it's a sodden mutter, though he's at least answered her. some of Audentes he would have just deflected and moved on to what else she had to say, taken the neutral ground and ignored the discomforting reminder that Gwen is gone. )
I'll take the help. I know it seems pointless to get people to take care of eggs before they hatch, but you were on Zeta-12, right? It's good for them.

[ That pain, she knows how unbearable it can be. She can tell from that mutter alone. Maybe it would help distract him with the eggs? She can only hope. ]
It isn't pointless, not if anyone else was on Zeta-12, we would be the only ones that know how dependent they are after the first few weeks when they hatch.

well, now, he's lost her all over again. a different way, maybe, but when he goes back to his own world the version of Gwen alive somewhere won't fill much of the vacancy that his leaves behind.
eggs probably can't completely distract him, or he'd sound a hell of a lot more cheerful right about now. still, it's better than nothing. )
Well, before they hatch, they're generally pretty tame. Can't move and everything. They can benefit from our attention now, anyway.

[ She hopes that even if it's a small distraction it will help. She's always found caring for animals has helped her own stress. Alice forces a smile. ]
They're cute when they're small like that, don't you think?

Yeah, the little scamps are adorable. It's cool to see squidges again, I really liked working with them on Zeta-12. Some might say too much.

[ Upon hearing this, Alice eases into a real smile. ]
I don't think there is a thing as "too much", Peter. It's almost like caring for a pet. In a sense. If a pet was just impressionable. How many eggs do you have, by chance?
no subject
( she's probably right, they can't care too much about a life that was so dependent on others for its survival. he's gotten a little ribbing for it from other teammates, so it's nice to hear a vote of confidence. )
Thanks, Alice. There's a bunch of them, though, not quite the numbers we had back on Zeta-12 but a couple dozen.

[ There will always be minor setbacks with each mission. Although, in her opinion, they seem to be growing for the better. ]
That's quite a few of them, it sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Well... more than a few. You'll definitely need help before we leave again.

( an armory, or a storehouse, or ... anything really. ALASTAIR seemed only mildly invested in making their successes easy, and that was putting it lightly. )
Yeah, I mean, one or two people isn't so bad when they're all still egged but one they hatch, I can't watch that many by myself. I'm guessing some will before we head off to Woodhurst, too.
