If you knew her, Gwen is gone. Transferred.
( that seems to be pretty much all he has to say on the matter, but what he isn't saying is clearly obvious on his face. he's upset, eyes red and a little dark, like maybe he hasn't been sleeping well. he hasn't been.
he knows she's not dead, and yet, considering that he might never see her again, it sort of feels like it. how long will he spend mourning Gwen Stacy? forever, probably.
he wishes he could point out Spider-Woman is gone, too. she'd made connections as both. but he can't — those who miss the masked version will have to figure out she's gone on their own. )
If there's anybody that cares, I could use some help with our little dudes. They're close to hatching, I think. It's better if someone is there to meet them when they do. ( he's talking about the squidges, and the observant will notice that's where he is — hanging out near the squidge park. he's been here a lot lately if one can find him at all. if you can't, well, he's probably somewhere on top of the castle where you're not likely to get to him. )

( a nice thought, even if his expression doesn't lift much. )
Do you have any toys? Like, stuffed bears, or anything? Beaker loved those, they might be nice for whenever they have to hang alone.

[ there's a note of wistfulness to her tone, but at least their charges are still together, don't have to worry about disappearing teammates or friends. ]
Oh! Hm, no, I don't think I have any... I wonder if there's any around the castle? [ a pause. ] Do you think the moving armor would become good squidge parents? They're here all the time, after all! If they're already acting on behalf of what ALASTAIR wants them to do... [ hmm, maybe not. they wouldn't be very cuddly or soft to touch. ]
I can try to look for something. There's some leftover blankets and other things I got from our last mission, maybe we can make something out of those.

( it is really hard to tell which it is, though the scientist in him is not great at accepting magical solutions... )
Thanks, Nami. I can help make them. I'm okay at sewing. ( he's made himself plenty of spider-suits, after all... is sewing a weird hobby for a teenage boy? whoops, he's weird then. as if anyone is surprised. )

[ they wouldn't want to scare the babies!! ]
Oh, you are? [ if anything, she seems to brighten up instantly. ] Ah, you've got a variety of talents, don't you? Not many boys know how to sew! My Captain is hopeless at it. [ see: the very first post Luffy ever made, calling out to her to help him fix his shirt. or hat. or something. ]

he has the decency to be slightly embarrassed by her interest. if only because, how do you explain that away? he only learned to make himself a suit and that is not something he can admit to. ) yeah, I really liked home ec? ( he phrases it like a question, like he's not even sure of the answer himself. maybe he isn't lbr. )
no subject
she blinks. clearly his explanation-slash-guess isn't really explaining much to her. ] Home... EC? [ she pronounces the two letters as separate, puzzling over their meaning. ]
What is that?
no subject
It's short for Home Economics. You learn life skills. It was supposed to be an easy A, but I kinda liked it. ( you know, the half a dozen times he bothered to show up. he'd heard his teacher wasn't going to take attendance and from then on Home Ec was more of a free period. )

[ look, at least she knows what a school is... even though the whole "a" thing makes no sense to her. ] Hm, it must be interesting! I had no idea they teach something like life skills, too!
no subject
( he'd never have guessed that Nami wouldn't know what a school was, but it was a good reminder that people came from incredibly different existences around here. ) They'll teach just about anything. I remember hearing about a college class on boredom. Sounded pretty counterintuitive to me.
no subject
[ sorry Peter you got stuck with How To School 101, apparently... ] Ehhh? That sounds completely useless! Why would you come to learn about boredom if you're bored? That's stupid. I thought school was supposed to be about useful things, like how to count, or read, or know about science, or navigate! [ one. of these things is not like the others. ]
no subject
( Peter Parker, the public education expert??? will wonders never cease... )
Navigation, huh? It's been a long time since they featured that in education, though I guess you could learn it somewhere.
