If you knew her, Gwen is gone. Transferred.

( that seems to be pretty much all he has to say on the matter, but what he isn't saying is clearly obvious on his face. he's upset, eyes red and a little dark, like maybe he hasn't been sleeping well. he hasn't been.

he knows she's not dead, and yet, considering that he might never see her again, it sort of feels like it. how long will he spend mourning Gwen Stacy? forever, probably.

he wishes he could point out Spider-Woman is gone, too. she'd made connections as both. but he can't — those who miss the masked version will have to figure out she's gone on their own. )

If there's anybody that cares, I could use some help with our little dudes. They're close to hatching, I think. It's better if someone is there to meet them when they do. ( he's talking about the squidges, and the observant will notice that's where he is — hanging out near the squidge park. he's been here a lot lately if one can find him at all. if you can't, well, he's probably somewhere on top of the castle where you're not likely to get to him. )

I'm sorry. that sucks.

( he can't say that he knows the feeling, he doesn't trust himself (or anyone else) enough to lead on to his own mutations. fact of the matter, though, he gets being changed without asking for it to happen.

still, the mention of physical changes piques his interest more than he'd like to admit. )

there were the first time? what kind of changes? do you mind my asking that?
& what changes are you experiencing now? how long ago did they happen?

Now it seems I can simply expend energy to repair damage to objects or heal people. There must be some mechanism to that, but I haven't figured out what it is.

[Much less how someone like him could gain the ability to start with. ALASTAIR certainly has means at their disposal, but what would make this possible?]

The first time was back home. Although I don't recall it, you could say I was used in an experiment. Details beyond that would likely be burdensome.

you're not the first around here granted that sort of ability, from what i hear. i can't guess at exact mechanics without a little more information, observation and trying to track levels. it's harder to explain a reaction you can cause in others, that's for sure.

burdensome to you, anyway. but i'll take the point.

( not indirect enough, clearly... though, when Peter is so trained in keeping his own secrets, it's possible that he's just too good at spotting them in others. he's not going to push someone that doesn't want to talk, though. at least there's that. )

It does seem challenging, at the least. Nothing feels any different, the ability is simply there. Of course, that doesn't mean a change hasn't occurred...one can be unaware of quite a few differences until they become apparent.

I appreciate it, and I do think it's a burden on others.

tracking a change when you don't know baseline is difficult, but it's not necessarily impossible. I've got some ideas we can talk about sometime if you're interested.

yeah, I get it. I'm one of those weird people that think solving algebraic equations is kinda fun, but when you don't know any of the variables you're never gonna get anywhere, you know?

That's true. Though you could say even back home, I'm something of a variable, so even I don't understand it well enough.

i hesitate to name a wheelhouse before i bothered to get a degree, but i wanted to go into biophysics before life got in the way.

I don't have a formal degree myself, though I wouldn't call the field in which I'm trained my specialty either.
