Okay. So. Crunch time. Things are getting nuts out there, if you didn't notice. We are gonna wind up super screwed if we don't hop to figuring out what the hell to do.

[She holds up a vial. It has some alien writing on it, as well as a familiar symbol on the label.]

We found this inside the hospital. A shit-ton of them, actually. So who wants to find out what Zymandis asshole is responsible for this mess and beat an antidote out of them?

[Again? With Shiro sick and some other people not looking great themselves, Keith is ... oddly relieved to find out that there's a conspiracy. A conspiracy is something that he can fight.]

[Fiona's feeling frustrated and helpless herself, so, yeah. Something that she can shoot at is something of a relief. She feels u, bro.]

Once we figure out who the hell it is. It's a big hospital.

If we can set up surveillance, I might have an idea. I found some hospital scrubs down in the sewers. If we can figure out who's headed down there ... or is heading down there, we might be able to stop them.

[He pauses for a beat.]

Assuming, of course, that it's just one person. Or ... alien. What are the odds that the taraxa are at work again?

I don't think it's the Taraxa. They can go into people's brains, so why would they need to use a virus?

[She taps the label: the Zymandis logo.] There are a lot of different types of people -- species -- in ALASTAIR. Why wouldn't Zymandis be the same? Either way, they're like us. Outsiders. So we need to find someone who doesn't fit into this stone age planet.

[secondnature]

Hold on a second. [He raises a hand up so that she can listen to him.]

They need to destroy this planet because they're here to do the opposite of us. Earth has billions of people. A virus is gonna work a lot more quickly than slowly turning people braindead.

[DON'T TELL HER TO BE QUIET WITH HAND GESTURES, KEITH!!! She gets a disgruntled look on her face right away.]

I mean, whatever, I'm just saying. Let's not go around just assuming we can fight this guy... or guys. The same way we did the last time. Keep our options open.

You're right about that. I just thought it'd be likely that they'd take someone in the hospital as a host, and then infect people that way.

Especially if they can.

The good news is that if it is the same type of ... infestation, we can deal with it better this time.

That would be the best case scenario. [She would prefer it if they had an immediate, simple way to kill -- or subdue, whatever -- the person(s) behind this.

She pauses.] Well, okay, the best case would be if none of this happened. But! You know! That's not possible.

Yeah, but it's not surprising that ALASTAIR has an enemy that's out to stop them. [Only that they ... technically ... are the enemy out to stop Zymandis.

Hm.]

We need to see what else we can get from this person. Or people. This is two missions in a row where they've interfered.

[Of course she can fight. Keith is really beginning to think that he has to assume that people have some kind of power to hold their own. It might be better to just ... conclude that from the start and stop asking.

As for the "getting hurt" part, he doesn't know what to say. So, uh:]

There's a good chance that more than me will get hurt. If they're as strong as the last Zymandis agents we faced.

But we might need to take charge to disable any of them so they aren't killed. Can you do that? [His tone takes on a different manner with this, almost like he's emulating a person who is more leaderly than he is. (He is. Hi, Shiro.)]

I can try! Nobody is dying on my watch, if I can help it.

[ And she means that; but then she pauses and puts a hand to her cheek, feigning exasperation. ]

Don't pick me over anyone else. Those people need a cure, too. I'm not going to die in there. I'm made of stronger stuff than that.

[Keith hasn't mentioned that he's actually an alien after all, but maybe she can draw the right conclusion off of that.]

It is still probably best to stick together though. Maybe we should have a rendezvous point! Somewhere safe! ...come to think of it, where is somewhere safe?

I think ... [His lips twist downward.] Before we think about plans to meet up or where to go, we need to think about what to do with our own numbers.

A number of the team is sick, after all.
