[It hurts. Too much to try use the video option. Or even audio. But. Well, she figures others should know. In case they might have been wondering, where Fai and Kurogane were. There is also the matter of housing now, whether she can still afford these rooms herself with what she has been given from ALASTAIR.]

I just thought everyone should know, in case they weren't aware already but. Fai-san and Kurogane-san have been sent on a different mission. I'm sorry if they had any plans with anyone. If they did, I could try help instead?

I should probably check and see how much this place is or if I need to find somewhere else to stay. I was just helping with the dishes, some cooking and cleaning for Fai-san and Kurogane-san in exchange before and they didn't mind. But I'm sure it'll be okay!

[She really didn't do this for pity. More so everyone could be aware their number is lower. She's not used to asking for help, but she will if she has to. Knows she needs to sometimes. And this is more advice as well, really. She's never had to consider accommodation herself after all. Sorting that out on her own.]

Yo~. Since we're expected to hand over reports to be graded by the end of the week and not be arrested, Tachibana and I are leaving town to take a field trip and look around.

Figured I'd say something in case someone's looking for us [ stranger things have happened ] or if we don't come back. If the latter happens don't bother looking for us because it means we're dead.

[ It's fair to note that while he definitely doesn't sound like he's kidding about the last part (because he isn't) he's also not at all expecting that to be even remotely possible. They're pretty resilient in their ability to survive even the most unfortunate of things. ]

Anyone need or want something from out there? [ like a souvenir from the faerie tribe's local gift shop or something... he doesn't know, okay. do you realize how desperately bored he is to be willing to wander around scouting landscape in the freakin' dark, he's going stir-crazy. ]

Someone kindly keep us informed while we're gone, too? [ he is actually very seriously expecting all the fun stuff to happen while they're out. ]

See you guys in a week, then.

[The feed opens not to a person, but to a thing—to an animal poking its nose about and snuffling. For a lion, it certainly doesn't seem particularly noble. Rather, it just looks lazy as it yawns wide and circles idly. Gilgamesh can be seen glaring in the background once he's caught on, dressed in the spirit of the holiday.]

Shishi! Stop that! I told you to wait a moment for my big debut!

[Shishi does not, in fact, appear interested in this debut. Gilgamesh eventually storms up and shoves the lion aside, waving apologetically at the feed.]

Well, so much for that surprise, I suppose. But indeed, comrades of ALASTAIR! It is I, Gilgamesh, and I come bearing news! The voice of our sponsor, previously thought silent, has spoken and brought gifts! More specifically, this great beast...

[This great beast, who tries to make a chewtoy out of Gilgamesh's wrist on camera. To say he's flustered is an understatement.]

...this great beast, and magic from another world. I was curious if any among you had received such a boon, and what it might be! And also—

[Shishi, apparently not so riveted by this news, proceeds to flop over. On Gilgamesh. This goes about as well as one might expect.]

Shishi, no, get off, GET OFF!

[If only the feed were kind enough to cut. If only. It just keeps rolling and rolling with poor Gilgamesh caught yowling underneath. Much regal, such majesty, wow.]

[The jewelry turns out to feature everybody's favorite pointy-haired lawyer. Or something.]

Hey everybody. Um, it's been kind of a crazy few days, huh? I suppose we should have expected violence to break out, but I know I was thrown for a loop when it did. Eh heh.

Ah, the thing is... I've decided to back the goblins. Not in a battle way, I mean! Just... I think they're innocent. All these rumors circulating around, and I haven't really gotten any solid evidence yet that there's substance. But somebody needs to back them up, and I guess that might as well be me. But that means we're going to have to find the real causes of everything -- the assassination, the sun disappearing, the message at the festival. I'm going to continue to work with the goblins, see if there's anything hiding under the floorboards. But I believe in them, and I believe there's another culprit somewhere. So... I hope everybody understands.

Although, er... I may some help getting information. Actually, a lot of help.

[He redirects the jewelry to the front of the inn he'd been staying at... which now has all his stuff tossed unceremoniously out front.]

I think I've just become persona non grata to the humans. That's... going to make getting information really difficult.

[Oh look, Phoenix. It's you versus the world again. Although I have to admit I don't think I've ever managed to turn an entire SPECIES against me before.]

[In the end, she opts for the efficiency of a brief written message. (The message functionality of the jewelry still amazes her from time to time, but she's becoming increasingly fond of how fast it makes communication with others.)]

My name is Riza Hawkeye. I'm a military officer from the nation of Amestris. [Vague credentials, for anyone that really needs them.] There are a lot of us here gathered from different places and times, with different skills and areas of knowledge. I've spoken with a few others and we've agreed it would be beneficial for all of us to have a database of skills to pull from, both for this mission and otherwise.

[Most likely 'otherwise'; she can't be the only one suspicious of ALASTAIR after what happened in Anwick.]

If you're willing to provide a brief listing of the skills you possess, magical [because that's a thing that exists, apparently??] or otherwise, it would be greatly appreciated. If you're uncomfortable using the communications device I'm also happy to meet with you in person.

[And if you're not willing that's cool too. Everyone's got their secrets.]

[The video, posted by username "NICO☆NICO☆SMILE" (gotta keep up that brand recognition), shows Nico standing in her room at the inn. She holds up the letter of invitation to the festival with a serious expression.]

It looks like everyone got the same invitation. This [she flicks the paper, making a crisp rapping sound] is important. Have you seen how tense everyone here is? They're stressed, and angry, and scared - there's no way we're getting anything done like that. I mean, I don't know how you bring back the sun. I'm no Ame-no, uh. Ame-no-Uzu....

[She frowns. She's trying to reference Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto from a myth about the sun disappearing, but her memory for things not related to idols is awful. After a moment, she shakes her head and returns to...well, a still mostly serious expression, but it's a little grumpier now.]

Never mind! But it's not going to be any easier trying to work it out in this kind of atmosphere. And bringing peace? Even worse. That's where this [she holds up the letter so it takes up most of the video] comes into it. Festivals are a good way for people to relax and improve their mood. Obviously, it won't solve everything, but it's a start. And we can't just leave it up to chance.

[She puts down the letter, turning partly away and giving a sideways, somewhat sly look.]

And besides, no one knows who we are, which means no one trusts us, either. If we make this festival a success, that would be PR coup. And if I - I mean, if we get popular with the locals, that'll make everything easier. Don't doubt the power of popularity! It's not easy, though.

[And then suddenly her expression shifts as she adopts a cute pose with a beaming smile.]

Luckily for you, you have Super Idol Nico-ni, shining star of Muse, to help you~ I'll put on a live show to put a Nico Nico Smile in everyone's hearts! ♡

[Since this is an audio recording, neither heart nor tilde are actually there, but you can practically hear it in her voice. She holds the pose and smile for a beat, and then it's back to serious face.]

But this is way too short of notice for me to do it on my own. I'll need your help.

[She starts listing things off on her fingers, speaking more quickly.]

I'll need a stage, in the square. It's too late to advertise for a show in the theatre, even if I could get permission. And, besides, everyone at the festival will be in the square. Even if we have to make it out of the chests from the inn, it's vital! [Because at 154 cm she's too short to be seen in the crowds without something to stand on.] Maybe we can make a curtain out of some laundry poles and a bedsheet.... I'll need candles, and those floating lanterns the letter talks about - plenty of them! And if you can get some dyes to decorate the lanterns with, all the better. With no proper lighting to go on, we're going to have to go with this kind of low-grade pyrotechnics. And I'll need people out advertising. I guess it's too short notice to make too many handouts without any printers....

[She claps her hands together.]

We don't have any time to waste! There's less than two days. I want people ready to start tomorrow morning! ...However you figure when that is out here.
