It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.
If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.
In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.
Let's see how we can help each other improve.
[ooc: Please feel free to thread-hop/jack here, that's what this is for!]

But if it's okay to say when there are things we want to learn, then I'd like to learn more about cooking, for one.
[ trusting that she's learning hand to hand under Master Anakin, and has a nebulous future date to learn some camping skills and fire making skills from Gaius-san, and Japanese with Haise... what a life. (Some of these skills may be more relevant than others.) ]
Driving or riding seems like it could be important too.

Someone else would surely be better for driving and/or riding, but I can help out with cooking.
no subject
Are you cooking all your own meals right now, Haise-san?
no subject
[Is he cooking his own meals... Ah, the blessings of this being text conversation]
I pack carefully before missions, so I don't have to rely on local establishments.
no subject
As it is, she's very impressed at his meticulous planning. Oops. ]
You're an efficient packer. I don't think I even thought about doing something like that. Are you always this well planned out?

drive, too, but riding is a better place to start.

I'd be happy to show you what I know. I've spent some time with these metallic horses. they're not so different from the ones back in Oska, I think the lessons would translate.
no subject
Really? So learning to ride here, I could really learn how to ride and I'd be able to ride there, too?

I mean, simple things. Because complicated things are probably too much, and simple things use simple ingredients, right? Those are probably easier to find.

[ save her ]
And a lot of different things people know how to make.

[He omits the 'and I needed it when I was on my own', because that's definitely not a conversation he wants to have with Chihiro.]
Tell you what. Maybe you can help me make something easy for the Reverend one of these days. It'll be a nice way to thank him and to get some practice in.

added in a bit later: FREE HUGS
Which means free hugs! Whenever you want one or need one. Just ask! I'll be glad to give you one.
un: heiwa
Like one of those free hug signs people carry around sometimes? That's pretty generous of you.
no subject
People carry signs? I guess so! Though a sign would be kind of awkward to carry around.
[ he wasn't making that suggestion, Chihiro... ]
Mm. I like hugs. Giving or receiving. We're a team, so... if this much is something I can do, and it'll help, then I will.
